Has anyone ever used this service and rented a car?

In other words, having your baggage claimed and brought to your resort but not personally taking the bus?

It would really free up alot of room in the rental car and I was just wondering if they would do this.

Re: Disney's Magical Express

I've used DME but not with a rental car.

What if you take DME to the resort and then rent a car at Disney?

I think you could do this... register for the bus, but then just not take it. your luggage would still get there...the luggage does not come back with you on the bus, it's a completely separate vehicle, so it should be fine.

I've never used the bus, but know alot of people who have, and even though they drop you off, your luggage usually doesn't arrive for hours, everyone i know used it hated it. I'd say rent a bigger car.

I agree with this. I've heard it takes hours to get your stuff. We rented a bigger car.

I had no problems with DME and I LOVED the airline check in at the hotel. We checked our bags, got our boarding passes and had a great day!

Just make sure everything you need for the day is in your carry-on.

I've also heard there were long waits, we had no wait at all for DME, but that might have to do with the time of year.

I went on the bus when I used this service. it was great not worrying about my luggage but it did take them a reallly long time to bring it to the room..so if u use it make sure ur carrying what ever u may want right away

Re: Disney's Magical Express

In Sept in the time it took to wait for the bus we could have rented a car and been at the Poly. There was no video on the bus, it was comfy though. We were the first drop off so that was nice. The ride home, I didn't like being at the airport 3 hours early but we were on someone elses schedule. We arrived at 10AM and our luggage was there at noon so that part was nice not to deal with it. I would never ever ever do Disney w/o a car again. I found the best rates at MCO not on property.

Oh on the way back to MCO a kid puked on the bus, if we drove alone... no ending the trip in styleChat Icon

thanks everyone for the feedback!

I guess it comes down to how long we can live without our luggage LOL

I'll check with the group and see what the consensus is.
