DIY pavement projects ?

Hubby and I are looking to do a pavement project in our backyard...i'm a little nervous but he's very confident.

has anyone done these types of projects DIY? any feedback/tips?

We looked into it briefly last year but decided to leave it to the professionals after we saw how many tools were needed for the project. I don't know what kind of project you are thinking of but for our paver walkway, it was recommended that we dig down about 8 inches and fill it with a gravel-concrete mix. This mix had to be tamped down after filling every 2 inches. Then we could add leveling soil, pavers and the joint sand(which is a different kind of sand). There are lots of videos out there-so I would suggest looking at them to get an idea.
We went to a couple of masonry stores. K&K Mason in Huntington has a good selection and they are very good. But we didn't really pay much attention to the price as we were paying the contractor. They do sell direct to you but I think there was a delivery charge.
