Do all daycares/nurserys have a school schedule?
Ladies please answer a few questions for me...
Do all daycares/nurserys have a school schedule?
If they have a school schedule...what do you do when they are closed for holidays?
Are there places that don't close for the holidays? If so, can you suggest them?
Once my mother leaves I don't have any family that can stay with DS while DH and I are working.
thank you in advance

Do you mean holidays they close? My daycare is open pretty much every day and only closed for the main holidays... Xmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's, etc. All the days my company is closed anyway

Mine only closes the federal holidays, except for Veterans Day. We are also closed the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve too. We close Christmas Eve because we did a survey and the parents chose to open on Veterans day and close on CE.

Ditto, Little Angels in Huntington was ALWAYS open. Only days they were closed was the 'biggies' Xmas, thanksgiving, (not sure about new years). Oh and really bad seriously bad snow days.

I was told that there are places that follow school calendar for ex. Winter, Spring break, religious holidays, etc.
I'm ok with major holidays like you mentioned because I am off too.

That is probably more of a nursery school. You are looking for a day care which caters to working parents.

Please excuse me if this a dumb question - what is the difference between a day care and a nursery?

A nursery is usually only a couple hours a day. Where a day care is for 9+ hours a day. Nursery Schools will most likely follow a school schedule, while a day care will only close major holidays. HTH

Yes... they def do! Even in DS's infant room I can't believe how much he's thriving! He does tummy time, they work with his hands and do artwork (well, they put his hand in paint and glob it on paper) LOL, he's starting to wave. It's so cute The older classes the kids are always learning from infant class to the Pre-K class. Most teachers there are certified teachers and they do a regular curriculum.

Yes. NYS licensed day cares must meet a certain criteria as far as teacher credentials.
