I have Allstate.. a Rottie and a German Shepherd, my policy did not increase because of the dogs. It did however increase after Hurricane Katrina.

Interesting...
It seems to me that there's no rhyme or reason to the insurance companies rasing your HOI based on the type of dog you have.
I noticed someone replied saying they have state farm and theirs went up, whereas my SF agent said we could get whatever we wanted and that our premium would not go up.

We have Allstate and there are certain breeds you cant own at all if you want them to insure you.

It looks like from what I've read that at this point in time the insurance companies can use their discretion re: rates or coverage.
But, there are legislators working towards changing that and I certainly hope they do.

But, there are legislators working towards changing that and I certainly hope they do.

Senator Dean Skelos has proposed a ban against insurance discrimination for dogs.
You can write to him and show your support and also write to your own legislator regarding the issue and letting them know you support Senator Skelos.

honestly who the hell cares if your insurance goes up? a dog is a family member. i think spending a little more money a month is worth it! and most pits are not vicious! they're amazing family dogs. does this face look like a vicious dog to you??
