Do I let the kid come?
I just came home to a message on my answering machine from one of DS's classmates mom. DS's bday party is this Saturday and she was asking if she could bring the little boys cousin too. She will have the little girl for the weekend and she wants to come. It's a bowling party and it's costing almost $30 per child. Part of me feels like why should I have to pay for this random kid to come who doesn't even know my DS, but on the other side, how do I tell the mom that she can't bring this kid?!

Re: Do I let the kid come?
ugh. This happens to me EVERY time i throw any sort of party. I always let the person bring the extra guest. Even though i rant about it to DH, lol. I just feel too bad telling the other person no.

Re: Do I let the kid come?
I would let the kid come but it's totally ballsy to ask I think. I am having dd's bday party on sunday and a mom asked me if she can bring her older son because he wants to "help" his younger brother at the party. She then went to say she was going to leave the sibling home but he really wanted to come. How can I say no but ummm he wasn't invited with a guesr!!

Re: Do I let the kid come?
I'd suck it up. Before you get upset with her, see how it plays out. Sometimes a mom brings a sibling but bowls with them on her own at her own expense & then promises them a treat afterward.
Also it's likely that one kid will not show (particularly with a nor'easter scheduled) - in which case you'll have an extra space.
If you want to say no, I'd just let her know that unfortunately you can't accomodate another guest but they are welcome to bowl on their own.

How do you say no? Ugh, I hate when people do this. She could of at least offered to pay for the cousin.

Re: Do I let the kid come?
I wouldn't accept her money for the kid, just as I don't think anyone would, but the offer would have been apprfeciated just to acknowledge that she knew it was going to cost me more for this kid to attend. I will see her at pick up today and tell her of course the kid can come, but seriously .

Re: Do I let the kid come?
I would let her come, but I would tell the parent that she is responsible for her bowling and meals..Tell her that everything has been paid for and she can''t be added. Its too late...
