Anyone who doesn't let their kid watch TV EVER?
I find this to be an amazing concept lol
On days like today (rainy, dreary), what do you do with your kids ALL day if you don't let them watch TV?
Madison has watched her share today, and I'm ok with that.

I'm with you.
I try to get DD's out of the house, but some days I just don't have the energy.
Whenever my mom watches the kids, the tv is almost always off. She keeps them busy around the house.

Im with you ...I have DS all day mondays. I work part time 3days a week. 2 of those days he's at daycare with no tv. as soon as we get home and i have to get his bath ready, get him fed, NICK Jr is on.
Today he's been in and out of his playroom with the tv on.
tomorrow we're going to story time at BN and i have some errands to run.
when my mother is here on tues/wed she keeps him pretty busy..not too much tv.
but sometimes, you need a break or need some time to do things and the TV helps.

Landon watches TV.. but actually today we didn't have it on at all! He was playing Sesame Street Games on my laptop though, which is guess is "worse" than TV.

I haven't yet put on a kids show for DD. On days like today, I'll keep the music channels on instead of the radio and we did watch the Giant game for a bit when I turned it on to tape for DH

my older ds watched maybe 30 minutes a month, maybe an hour.
it's hard but a choice we made a long time ago. we just do a ton of activities. he'll probably watch a bit more in the winter.
i don't see anything wrong with tv in moderation. shows these days are educational but i still rather limit it. i do love the leapfrog dvd's though.
i have a friend who doesn't have a tv in her house so her kids never watch.

i think everything should be in moderation...like kids having sugary snacks, getting the ice cream man and watching TV...i feel that if kids dont get to do things like this once in a while they will ALWAYS want it when they get older.
I wouldnt want my kids to be couch potatoes because they were never allowed to watch TV when they were younger.
I think everything should have a limit! and there are times where moms need to take a shower or make an important phone call or if its raining of snowing out theres only so much to occupy your child and theres only so many hrs they can play with their toys!
i dont think TV can really have a negative effect on kids as long as they are not sitting in front of it all day long. I know my kids have learned alot from TV like watching dora or diego or kai lan and learning how to speak spanish or chinese or sesame street learning numbers and letters.
I still dont understand why some parents think TV is such a bad thing when we all know we have learned alot from it ourselves!

only when she's at my mom's or MIL's.
We keep the tv on more for noise and to drown out our neighbors...
Alot of time the tv isn't on for our girls it's just on for noise around the house and i think it's helped our girls be able to sleep through just about everything and be able to fall asleep even in a house full of people.
While i get hell from my mom and MIL about the tv and how they never had it on, they also weren't full time working parents with 3 kids with tons of activities and constantly on the go.

For us, it's not that we don't allow Loey to wach TV... he has NO interest!
Ask Linda1003! We tried to get him to watch yesterday and he just does not care at all!

they were too cute though!! while John was zoned for a few mins..We couldnt' even get Loey to look UP at the TV!!

Maddie was like this for the first 2 years of her life...she had NO interest. Now that she's 3 she loves it, and I justify the time she spends watching it by noting that she never watched it for the first 2 years of her life lol.

Abby can survive with or without it. It has done no irreparable damage to her.
However, if DH watches PATTON with her one more time, it could be an issue should she choose to enlist in the Army. But hey, West Point is a free ride!
