Do I need to buy a helium tank?
Anyone who has thrown a b-day party lately...have you had problems getting balloons? The stores are telling me I am not going to be able to get them and I should buy a tank.

 did you try more than one place.. i never heard of not being able to get .. unles you are asking for alot and wanted right then, maybe they require a few days to put order in before hand.. thats the only reason i can see them not filling the order. and if they have a maximum that they will do.

My mother is getting $120 for a party tomorrow from a florist in N. Massapequa. So it is worth it to check around. But even prior to the helium shortage, I started doing my own balloons with the tank. No one has to worry about picking them up or getting them home, it's so much easier. For the latex ones anyway, I haven't done mylars at home. If I was going to do that, I'd purchase the mylars on ebay or somewhere else online to get a good price.

We've been buying the tanks from BJs for years now. Much easier transporting a small box with the tank and balloons than pre-filled balloons. Even the mylar ones are easy to fill. Every party we've had (4 for DS and 1 for DD so far), we've done the tank ourselves. They've all had one mylar balloon, and dozens of "regular" balloons. I find it so much easier than buying inflated balloons.

I will say when I went to get the balloons there was no one in the store (I got there when it opened). However some of the balloons I wanted to get (you know how they display them on the wall?) were no longer in stock. They stopped sending the store the balloons b/c of the helium shortage. For us the helium wasn't the problem, it was the balloons. I would get the balloons now whether or not you are getting the tank. HTH!

Bj's sell the 50 balloon kits for $19.99
They are fabulous!! Very easy to fill... plus you don't have to worry about transporting them from store to party.
