Do kitchen appliances need to match by brand?
DH and I are going to get new appliances and new counters to update our kitchen. For resale purposes only, we are doing stainless steel. In looking at Consumer Reports I noticed that not all appliances in the suite get good reviews. I.e. a manufacturer makes a great oven but not such a great refrigerator. All of the appliances will be stainless. Do they all need to match or should we get the best rated appliance in our price point? Part of me feels that a wolf or viking oven/range are great, but you hear sub zero is a great fridge, so in the high end world it is done all the time. But for a more mid price range where we are, do people do that too, or is that some how seen as wrong?

Re: Do kitchen appliances need to match by brand?
I personally don't care if the brands match. My oven is a frigidaire and GE fridge...

Re: Do kitchen appliances need to match by brand?
My kitchen designer encouraged getting the same brand but I think as long as the appliances look similar it should be fine.
Ie. the handles are the same color and it has a similar stainless steel finish...

Absolutely not! Match the functionality and design aspects to your needs and budgets. There is absolutely nothing wrong with matching a SubZero refrigerator with a GE microwave... and alternatively, if you are a really good cook, you will appreciate the quality of the Wolf Range and it may be worth your budget to buy the range at that price point but at the end of the day a Frigidaire refrigerator may more than suit your needs. (allowing you to buy the Wolf)
