Do pavers need to be set in concrete?
If you had pavers done, did they set them in concrete? If not, what did they do? I was told by one masonry person that pavers had to be set in concrete (which surprised me)>

Do pavers need to be set in concrete?
Our pavers are set in a layer of crushed concrete, dirt, sand and then the paver stones on top.

Only our boarder is set in concrete. Everything else is typical sand and stone

I think if it's a driveway, otherwise they use sand, or little pebbles or something

Crushed concrete underneath. We have a driveway from previous owners that's concrete lined with pavers and it's a disaster - cracking, lifting, settling. We have to have them redone and are definitely not having them set in concrete because of this.

same here. i had one contractor tell me the same thing but if you contact cambridge they will tell you they void the warranty if the pavers are set in concrete.

Re: Do pavers need to be set in concrete?
they should not be "set" in poured concrete. there should be crushed concrete under them. sand swept in.
If it is around a pool, there should be about 6 inch of poured concrete dried, wire mesh, then crushed cement and sand swept in.
as previous poster said, only border set in cement so it holds everything else in place.
