Do some women just not get excited about babies?
I told my sister about my dr appt tonight - that it was my first internal, that the Dr said the head was down, that things are moving along. I told her I had a mini freak out in the car and how great DH was, reassuring me that I can do this 
Her response?
"Yeah that all sounds like tons of fun" and then goes on to tell me about a super bowl party she's having.
She is not married and does not have kids, and she acts more like a 21 year old than a 31 year old, but is it wrong for me to think maybe she could sound, or at least PRETEND to be a little more excited that she will be a first time aunt?
I feel like she is going through the motions one might expect from the sister of a pregnant lady, but dragging her feet at every turn. I feel like SHE DOES NOT CARE that Im going to have a baby!
Do some people just not care?

Some people just aren't into the baby/kid thing. I try not to let things like that bother me, I remind myself that while this is the center of my life right now it's not the center of everyone else's.

I dont expect it to be the center of her life, but as my sister, a little enthusiasm would be nice  oh well.

Agreed.. I totally understand where your comng from but before babies really entered my mind I didnt really 'get it'... I wouldnt take it too personal and I guess the best thing is try to understand shes in a very different place than you in her life but she loves you. Once the baby is here im sure shell be ooooohhh and ahhhhing over her niece or nephew

Yes. My mil is the same way. She gets more excited about talking abouy travelling than talking about the baby.

I can somewhat relate...i was never a kid or baby person. Now that i have a kid, i am...but when i was single not so much.

And some women just don't get excited because they can't relate. I do think I would be a little hurt since it's your sister that seems uninterested but I'm sure that the baby is just such a foreign idea right now. When the baby is here, I hope she changes her tune

one of my very good friends does not like children or get excited. She will hear me out though on certain things (mostly about me and how I'm feeling physically). But I KNOW not to talk to her about specific baby things, show her sonograms or anything like that. She just doesn't care.
Being that it's your sister, she should have shown a bit more enthusiasm. But I understand how some women just aren't into babies.

I do think that some people are just not into the baby thing. My brother and his g/f are very uninterested and uninvolved with my 2 year old and pregnancy. It's too bad, but I just shrug my shoulders and talk about these things with my friends and family who do seem to give a hoot.

I honestly never cared about that sort of thing until I had my own...I just had no interest & I think it's pretty common. Sorry that you're so disappointed though

I think that was a crappy response. She's your sister. However - and forgive me - but given your many previous posts about your family, I'm not surprised.
I just really hope that when the baby comes they are all as excited as you are

I've had friend who have not shown interest in my pregnancy and others who are just so thrilled and want info every step of the way. It's those friends who make up for the non interested ones
