Do they still do the Strep B test for a scheduled C-section?

I don't think so, but I'm not positive. I think the risk of transfer to the baby occurs during a viginal delivery because that is usually where the bacteria is colonized.

Yes they still do the test in the event you go into labor or break your water before your scheduled date.

Yes. They do this just in case your water breaks or something happens and you have to go to the hospital and deliver. If that does happen, if they dont have the results when you go into the hospital they will treat you as it came back positive. All the treatment is, is fluids hooked up as IV.
I had the strep on Thursday and was admitted on Saturday. The results were not in yet so they treated me as if it was positive and contacted the lab for the results.

depends what week you are scheduled for. the test is only valid toward the end of pregnancy and if you are scheduled as early as i was, then the risk of going into labor is very minimal.

I had a Strep B and internals and I was a scheduled c-section w/ DC #2.

Yes. They did for me. Just in case you go in labor and delivery vaginally.

I did not but I also had a previa so I had no swab tests or internals. I think at one point they may have done it as part of my gazillion blood tests though, b/c they had results when I went in for my c-section.
