Do we think quarantine will go away?

I am wondering once we hit 70% immunization will quarantine go away???

I know they are only really quarantine/tracing of a school or your job reports it but when will that end.

Next year my district is doing away with remote learning while I don’t like remote learning I did switch my DD to be remote for a month to avoid any chances of her getting stuck quarantined because she had commitments and I didn’t want her to miss it sure to a stupid quarantine.

This obviously will not be a choice next school year and I will be in the same boat where she I don’t want her to miss commitments due to a quarantine.

So I am really hoping they are going to stop the whole quarantine of you were exposed.

Am I dreaming to think this might actually stop??? LOL
I feel like I am but wondering if anyone else thinks it will eventually stop.

I would love to say that too but with Cuomo you never know!!!

I will be more surprised if it actually does go away.

I just read an article that even when we get to 70% he will lift all the restrictions except for in school (and other situations) and I’m hoping this will change come
September but I feel like it’s doubtful!!

He has moved the goal posts since March 2020 so who knows anymore.

I hope for the sake of these kids they don’t have to wear masks as of September. I am out of the public school system in a couple of weeks so it won’t affect me but I feel bad for all the continuing students.

I do think it will eventually stop, though I am unsure if it will by the start of next school year. I mean, the CDC says that vaccinated people can "[r]efrain from quarantine following a known exposure if asymptomatic," so I feel like this guidance needs to be implemented schools in some capacity...

Cuomo said once we hit 70% all restrictions are off. But since it Cuomo who the heck knows. People are already lifting the restrictions themselves.

Both of my kids are vaccinated and I do not want them in masks next year and I will fight tooth and nail to make that happen. I followed the rules this year but it was very hard for my youngest and impeded her education immensely to have it on.

It has been implemented in schools - vaccinated folks and people who had covid within a 90 day period don’t have to quarantine anymore.

That’s what I thought but then i read article restrictions won’t be dropped in school.

Personally I think it’s time to drop all restrictions including quarantine because everyone that has the vaccine is protected why are we worrying about quarantining people anymore. The only caveat to this is younger kids but I still
Think it’s time to stop quarantine or at least let them test out.

I guess my main point of the post was if anyone heard anything that I may have missed but doesn’t seem like it lol

Is this at all K-12 schools? I haven't heard of any such changes at my own job, so I am curious what is going on at other schools.

I think as long as there is covid there will be quarantined. The vaccination rate for Suffolk is hovering around 50% it’s really low and vaccines have been widely available for a while. I don’t believe we will reach the 70% to be honest. Too many people don’t want the vaccine and think it’s “just the flu”

I know our district does this and surrounding districts do as well. If you are fully vaccinated, you don't have to quarantine (if you show them your vaccine status) and if you have had a record of a positive test within 90 days you don't have to quarantine either.

I agree, I think 10 day quarantines after COVID exposure will become the new normal going forward for those who are not vaccinated or have not previously had it.

Re: Do we think quarantine will go away?

I think it will go away once there is a “tamiflu” option for Covid. As it is , vaccinated people don’t have to quarantine if exposed. So rules are loosening up a bit as we go along. I’m hopeful it will be treated like the flu eventually. Vaccines can help you not get it but if you do, there’s medicine to take to shorten it so it doesn’t progress to something worse. I wish people were able to “quarantine” when they were sick in general because I’m not gonna lie, even though I wound up with covid, it was nice going so long without even a sniffle (until allergies hit )

Well that will suck. My kids aren’t even eligible for the vaccine yet.

Granted they already had it so I don’t even think they really need it.

Plus with the vaccine you can still get it. I don’t get why the need for quarantine anyway just because you may have been exposed.

I will bitchhh to i have too though I know it won’t get me far if my kid needs to be quarantined if one person in her class has it and they have no option for me to avoid a quarantine like the option of remote learning.

It’s also useless anyway they are only quarantine exposed people if a job or school calls in. They are not contact tracing by asking people who they have been around.

I think once everyone is eligible, it will go away. That might not be until next spring though.

I work in a school and if you have been vaccinated, you do not need to quarantine.
