Do you always send TY's for b-day gifts received

I ALWAYS do. I find it sooooo rude. We've been to a few parties (some of the same family) and they did not acknowledge our gifts. This bothers me soooo much. I think it's setting a good example for kids to show appreciation.


Don't get me started on people NOT RSVPing either!

I always do....we just received a wedding thank you with the birth announcement in the same envelope! I mean why bother with the wedding one now???

I just drives me crazy...

A LONG time ago I remember seeing an Oprah episode where a mom said her rule with her kids was that they could not play with any gifts until they wrote out thank you notes. I thought this was a great idea. It really drives home the point that all these toys were gifts that people took the time, energy, and money to get for you.

i ALWAYS do, its something I've learned to do growing up & I will make sure DS does the same. As for RSVP some of my son's cousins fail to do this for his birthday party every year...it's a very annoying guessing game

i always do..although DS's b'day party was in August and I still haven't sent them...but I will!

I always do and I make a real effort to personalize each card. I feel if someone went out purchased and wrapped a gift it's the least I can do.

I do. I just can't bring myself not to.
But my circle of friends have an unspoken rule that Thank You's aren't required. I still don't follow the rules.

I send thank you's for all gift my DD receives, even if it's from my parents and not for an occasion. I just feel that it's the right thing to do. They took the time & made the effort to buy her something special, the least I could do is send a little something that says we appreciate it.

When DS's bday rolls around and he receives gifts I most certainly will send thank you's. People are so generous, that it is the least I can do.

i always send thank yous---but my problem is that they are often a little late (working on that)

Always, always send a thank you. When DD is old enough - she will be sending them herself

And I just don't understand other parents not RSVP'ing for parties. They throw them too, they know about head counts

Yes but do you send the thank you cards to family members as well??

I think it's kind of silly to send to family members. Maybe i'm alone in that. I just wouldn't want my relative to waste a stamp or their time filling out a card when i'm happy to get my niece/nephew gifts.
