Re: Do you and DH/significant other "AGREE" on house ideas?

For the most part. Lately we have been arguing about art though. We have a very nice house that we have been furnishing/decorating and I would like to invest in some nice pieces of art. DH just doesn't understand paying money for art - we were at Target and something was $200 and he was like, "whoah that is expensive" - he doesn't see art as an investment, but rather a waste of money. I'm trying to educate him. Chat Icon Chat Icon

We basically have the same taste so most times we are in accordance. However, if I like something that he does not like most times he would give in to me.

same with us- and my DH doesn't always care- so then he let's me get what I want- he makes very few requests

Ditto for us. It's either "my way or my way" Chat Icon

yup, that sums us up.

We have similar tastes...and DH is an artist, so it's usually pretty easy for us. Whenever I'm unsure about something, I know I can trust his instinct. He's AMAZING with colors!!!

We pretty much agree on everything - and if we don't - well I make a strong enough case that he ends up agreeing with me.

Especially anything decorating wise - he really doesn't have too much to say about that thank god!

We're pretty much in agreement except for decorating the walls. that's where we differ the most.

Tell Bob to talk to Chuck. You know what he'll say. Chat Icon

The house and the decorating is my domain. I have worked hard to decorate my house. I select pieces based on what I like. I ask his opinion, but I have last say. Sounds harsh, but he had 5 years in this house to do what he wanted and now it's time to ditch the posters and grow up. So far, we've agreed on all of the decorating choices made.

Not at all in the beginning. We bought our house a few months before we got married and DH actually thought that he had an opinion on the decor of the houseChat Icon I thought we wouldn't make it down the aisle.

Now, after seeing how everything has turned out, he's happy to let me make the decisions.

for the most part yes we agree, however fh tends to have more modern taste than me, but in the end my taste usually prevails!

I am in charge of any and all decorating. Even if I ask his opinion i get " I dont know, I'm bad at this stuff.. whatever you want." So he pays and I pick stuff out!! Its a beautiful thing really..Chat Icon

DH usually leaves it up to me, when we were taking down walls in our house when we first bought it, he doubted my vision-now he realizes never argue with me because I'm always rightChat Icon
He always tried to talk me out of our kitchen paint color which has turned out to be the thing people compliment most & have used in their own homes.
He had full control of the basement TV room, he did a good job.

He bascially left it all up to me. He doesn't really have the gene for home improvementChat Icon but it's firmly engrained on my DNA.

I come up with the ideas and because we have similar tastes he usually like them. We made dozens and dozens of changes to this house and I can't think of one disagreement.

When his studio was being built in the basement he made all of the decisions himself.
