Do you answer the door...
...if you don't know who it is?
Someone just rang our bell and we didn't know them so we didn't answer. Now I feel bad because it was probably one of the neighbors (we just moved here so we don't know most of them). If it was, I'm sure they know we're home.
New kids on the block and already making enemies

I probably would at this time 7:30 BUT if it were after 8 no way! I am chicken sh#t. I think sometimes it also depends on if dh is home.

Not if I'm alone. I don't open for Con Ed/ Cable etc. if I'm not expecting them either. You just never know. If DH is here he opens but always asks who it is.

Don't sweat it! You can answer or not answer your door anytime. If it was important, they'll be back!

not if i am home alone! we had someone come to our door yesterday and we also just moved into our house a month ago a young girl trying to get some votes for a trip she can go on if she gets the most books/magazines sold i couldn't do it because of money is tight maybe next year i will!

Not if I am home alone. Sometimes I feel bad cuz my inlaws are in apt 'next door" and they come to my door by accident. If I don't know you, I don't answer...LOL sorry

I answer the door -- DH is on the buildings board so people stop by periodically to drop things off or what not and sometimes it's one of our neighbors. I ask who it is first of course.

It happened to us yesterday. We decided to get in an afternoon.....well....ya know and someone knocks on our door. We didnt answer the door. We have no idea who it was.

I'm glad you answered for me!
I usually don't answer the door when I am home alone, but then I get all guilty that they can see my car there or hear the A/C running...And I get insanely curious about who it was. Last week I ignored the bell and still wonder who it was.  We don't get many random people knocking though.
One time I was surprised by a box of candies and cookies when I looked outside the door after someone knocked. That was a good surprise.

No one ever rings our bell because we're in the basement!
But when we were in the co-op, I'd answer the door. It was usually just the UPS man with a package for me

I don't even answer the door for dh in broad daylight unless he can verify his identity...even if i see him thru the peephole i ask him questions only he would know prior to opening the door.
When we get packages we always have them delivered to one of our offices so I know if a delivery man comes knocking on the door (unless its the grocery's) he is a  !

Nope!!! I do not take chances when I do expect anyone. DH always tell me never answer the door when I am alone and if I am not expecting anyone.
