Re: Do you bring copies of your DC birth certificate when you fly?

I did but nobody asked. From BTDT moms, it's best to have it for "just in case". So I brought it with us. If only to prove DS' age.

If they are under 2 yes you have to have it if they are flying w/o a seat to prove they are not 2.

We've only flown once with DS but didn't bring it. He was 2.5 months old and it was quite obvious he was no where near two years oldChat Icon

My DS is 2 and we have flown numerous times to visit family In TX and I have never brought one, never was asked.
We flew in March and he had his own seat and still did not bring one I would call the airline if you are that unsure what to do Have a great trip!!

Re: Do you bring copies of your DC birth certificate when you fly?

It depends. I flew recently and when I researched this question, it said for a lap child, they only ask for bc if their age is in question. for miki, since she had her own seat, she did not need id...Chat Icon

for jet blue, you only need id if their age is in question. KJ was only 8 months so I brought nothing

I think we did the one time we flew with her- but we don't have a passport for her. That's on my summer to-do list.

Re: Do you bring copies of your DC birth certificate when you fly?

Yes but I am overly cautious and I even bring my passport for every domestic flight I take. I figure that if I get into the habit, I will never forget when I need it.

Re: Do you bring copies of your DC birth certificate when you fly?

We always do. It's a single sheet of paper that we can stick anywhere. For such a little time, space and money investment, it makes life so much easier, potentially. If there is ever a case where they ask for it, you have it. If you don't need it, you're only carrying around a fraction of an ounce extra with you.

We plan on it as well as with his passport. Passport is the only official ID we have for him that has a pic and the BC shows proof that we are his parents.

Well you don't need it if they have their own seat (under 18 doesn't need ID) BUT I always bring one - it is just stress you don't need if someone asks for it and you don't have it. It never hurts to just bring a copy.

yes. It has to be the original. Not all times am I asked but the couple times I was I had a copy and they almost wouldn't let us fly. They insisted it had to be the originals. I also carry their SS card as back up.
