Do you ever wonder if the people at the RE's office are honest?
My RE has mentioned IVF many times. I keep telling him I'm just not sure if we are going to do that since our insurance doesn't cover one penny of it. I have done 2 IUI's with them and wonder if they purposely don't process the sample correctly so that a couple would be forced to do IVF - or at least truly consider it. It seems that an awful lot of people at the RE's are doing IVF these days. I mean, it wouldn't be so hard to mess up the sample or not insert it where it needs to go. Just wondering. I mean, as much as everyone gets emotional about the doctors, they are in it for the money.

I think a lot has to do with the problems you and DH have.
IUI s are only about a 10-20% success rate and IVF is much higher. Well, our RE said due to our age and reason which was unexplained, he told us a 70% chance. I dont think they are being dishonest.

I think if you get a good feeling about your dr., then you should trust their opinion. I do not feel that I was pressured at all by my dr., but I do know someone who went to a different dr. and felt very pressured and just didn't feel right about the meeting (like it was a factory or something).
I would say to go with your gut when you meet the dr. Ultimately, it is your decision and you can always get a 2nd opinion.

I don't think they would be dishonest for two reasons - 1: They don't stand to gain much and an IUI is much less work for them as opposed to IVF. It's just that, as Diane said, IUI's have a lower success rate.
2: They have to answer to the board and insurance and if they were ever caught screwing around they would lose their medical license. That would be fraud.
