If so, what's safe?

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I will once I start feeling better. I've read in so many places that if you continuously work out during pregnany it will help with labor and delivery.
I'll be doing the same things I was doing prior to getting pregnant, YouTube 30 min workouts, running, prenatal yoga, and weight training. From what I've read, everything except training for a marathon, extreme aerobics, and anything that risks you falling is safe. Just stay hydrated and stop if you feel the need to. Don't worry about trying to push yourself to the max.

I dance and teach dance. Most anything is safe, they do say not to add on new things while your pregnant (ie. if you've never ran in your life dont start doing the mile). I think the only thing my dr said were off limits were ab workouts and things like backbends.

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
Mostly just walking on the treadmill. I did the elliptical & recumbent bike a few times. I used to be a runner but hurt my foot & couldn't run for a few months then lost so much fitness that I didn't want to start up again while pregnant. Sometimes I jog for a minute or two during my walk but that's the extent of it.

Do you exercise while pregnant?
I've been REALLY sick with MS and then my cluster headaches came back and now my asthma is getting worse but I want to start doing the elliptical again. I was doing an hour a day before pregnancy but when symptoms just got worse I had to stop. My doctor told me to start at 10 minutes and when I feel ok after a couple weeks go up to 20 but NEVER exceed 30 minutes.

Do you exercise while pregnant?
I was told that I have to keep my heart rate below 140bpm. I don't know if that is possible with lifting weights, and cardio at a normal pace. I think once I start feeling better ill start walking on the treadmill and maybe the elliptical

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I was running before so I'm continuing with that for now. I'm going much slower and taking frequent walk breaks though.
As a pp said, if you haven't been exercising at all the only thing I would do is some brisk walking. Now is not a good time to start an exercise program.

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I was super active before pregnancy and then the first triimester symptoms hit causing me to have to stop. Towards the end of my second tri I started feeling better so I have been doing 30 minutes of cardio daily and weight training a few days a week. I feel SO much better being active and I am hoping that it helps with the tremendous weight gain I have been experiencing too!

Do you exercise while pregnant?
YES!! its the best thing for you.. from blood pressure to curbing constipation. Exercise makes you feel great. I continued my regime, jogging, Tea Bow, Wii, on Demand work outs, elliptical. I stopped jogging after I hit the 10-12w mark, just got uncomfortable. But I walk now instead sometimes with ankle/hand weights. Like other said stay hydrated thats sooo important. you can trigger Braxton Hicks if you dont. My Dr said to continue to work out and if its painful stop but pressure or tightness is normal.

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
Honestly, no. I have been soooo tired. But I plan to start prenatal yoga soon and once it gets warmer, I want to start walking.

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I have continued with my regular workout routine of the elliptical and weights. If something doesn't feel right then I take it down a notch. Other than that everything is the same.
With pregnancy #1 worked out until 38wks and had a fast delivery (31mins of pushing) and pregnancy #2 I worked out until the day off and had a faster delivery (2 pushes = 2mins...literally).
IMO I think working out definitely helped me with my easy deliveries. Do want you can without over exhausting yourself.

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I do yoga one day a week, elliptical or running 3 days a week, I do crunches at a 30% angles, and light weights. I also hike a lot.

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I walked and did the elliptical until 2 weeks before I gave birth. If you were exercising before getting pg, you should continue. Just keep your heart rate under 140 bpm and ask your ob if you're unsure of any specific exercises.

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
The only thing my doc said no to was hot yoga and spinning (my 2 faves). Other than that, everything else was a yes. Not all docs say no to spinning, so check with yours. I worked out till I was about 6 months, after that I walked a mile every day since the gym started to smell to me (damn pregnancy weirdness)

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I wish I could I was so active before - running 4 miles several times a week. I was so nauseous the first few months I couldn't do anything. Then the 2nd trimester hit and I was sick for almost 2 months straights with a sinus infection. I find if I walk anymore then 5 mins now in the start of the third I get really bad cramps. It was always my intention to sontinue but I'm just not up to it. It's such a bummer

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
I do as often as i can with a toddler, though when i am not officially working out I often feel like I am with all the running around after DS I do, and heavy lifting, he is my 30 pound medicine ball. Also, if you were not working out before, it is actually fine in most cases to begin a gentle workout routine and slowly move up. I def agree with folks that you don't want to move from nothing to something hardcore. . so if you weren't running, don't train for a half marathon, but there is no reason to not work out at all, as long as your Dr. gives you the go ahead. For me, most important thing was always listening to my body, not pushing myself when it said to slow down!

Re: Do you exercise while pregnant?
Yes, I took a break during the first trimester because I was just so exhausted - I mean, like nothing I've ever felt before exhausted lol! So, between that and the sometimes morning sickness I just took a break from it. So, now that I'm in the second trimester I feel much better and have begun walking, swimming (my gym has an indoor pool), and cycling - I just make sure my heart rate stays below 150 beats per minute. I'd like to look into the yoga - Doctor said as long as it is not "hot" yoga, it's great to do.
My doctor advised me to avoid: jumping - so no basketball or volleyball, or anything that involves jumping. Also, weight training anything below my waist (doing arms and stuff is alright), and anything that makes my heart rate go above I think it was 150 beats per minute.
