Exercise while pregnant...
What ways are you exercising during pregnancy? I was never one to work out...I was underweight before becoming pregnant and had trouble gaining weight so I never really "needed" to work out, but am now 7 pounds over what my max weight gain should be at this point (I'm 22 weeks). What exercises are safe to do while pregnant? Any recommendations? Thanks!!

If you're 22 weeks and haven't been exercising, you should definitely check with your OB before you start anything other than walking.

Oh really? Is it not safe to start exercising in the middle of pregnancy? Did not know that! I do lots of walking with my dog already..but that's it!

Agreed, I'd check with your doc. If you've never been one to ever exercise, now is probably not the best time to start. But agreed also on walking, it's probably just enough exercise for you especially since your body is not used to exercising...but don't go on 5 miles hikes or anything!

My OB said that it's safe to continue whatever exercise routine you had in place prior to getting pregnant. Like a PP said, I would check with your OB first before starting an exercise routine. Walking is fine though.

same here. she told me it's safe to continue to do what i've been doing, as long as my body feels comfortable doing it and my heartrate doesn't go over 140. but, she said this is NOT the time to try something new.

definitely check with your doctor first before starting a rigorous exercise routine. i have a friend who walked an hour everyday during her pregnancy and she said that helped her through labor a lot. so all you need maybe just some walking

I was just going to write the same thing.
I have been taking a total body cardio class for the past year. Once I got PG, I have just been to tired and slightly Naseous to take it. Plus my heart rate goes way over 140 when taking the class. I have been walking a mile a day instead. I plan on doing pre-natal yoga too.

Keep in mind that if you were underweight, you should gain more than those who average or over weight.
If I were you, I would start with walking, or light swimming, or maybe the eliptical. Nothing hard core and work your way up.
I was working out prior to DC1 and this baby. I did the eliptcial thru entire first pregnancy, and plan on doing the same with this one. Low impact, but good cardio.
