Do you feel bad about throwing out gifts you dont need?

I do...I feel bad when anyone spends their money, even if its $1 on something I dont need. But I cant have all kinds of crapola laying around anymore so I tossed a bunch of Christmas things. Not big things, I would surely try to find another home for them, but small stuff. I hate it with a passion - between me, DH & the kids, we get lots of well meant stuff that is really just clutter. I dont mean to sound ungrateful but I cant find homes for all the small stuff that ends up in Christmas stockings and such. My SIL bought me an ornament that I know I will never use and I feel bad getting rid of it but what else can I do with it? Same with the set of Christmas theme guest towels and green tea hand soap in a decorative dispenser. If I make piles of this stuff, it just sits around. I donate stuff, sell on ebay, give things to friends, give away on freecycle, etc. but some small things are just too much.

Does anyone else feel guilty about tossing stuff? Do you keep bins of useless stuff in your basement? What do you do otherwise? Again Im not talking about stuff that is easy to donate or sell. Freecycle can be a PITA sometimes bc people say they will come and they dont and it ends up back in my hall closet.

I used to feel bad...not anymore.

I usually hold onto stuff for a little while, but if I haven't found a use or place for it, I toss it.

I strictly told my mother, the queen of buying useless crap, to save her $$ and DON'T buy it!!!!!

Yes, I always feel this way. I hate to say it but as a teacher I often get a bunch of little things, knick knacks that I'll never use. I tend leave them in a pile or bag for a while and eventually just throw it out. I always feel so guilty

I feel bad about throwing anything away that is new or rarely used

but in a tiny apartment I have learned I just gotta buckle down an do it!


I have though kept stuff that I will never use from people that mean alot to me, I just can't throw it out. I save it in a random box

Maybe we should do a freecycle type thing on here..post stuff we don't want and see if there's any takers? One mans trash is another's treasure

I waited until I had a pile of the stuff and then sold it at a garage sale with other stuff we didn't need anymore.

I never throw away, I donate. I would definitely feel guilty throwing away.
