Do you feel like you just don't fit in with your In-Laws?
I just don't feel like I fit in, different culture, sense of humor, personalities than you are used too?
I am not even sure they like me. It's not like they do anything bad towards me, but when I see how they are with others non-relatives, I just don't feel as "warmly recieved". Does this make sense?
do you fit in with them?

Re: Do you feel like you just don't fit in with your In-Laws?
I do not fit in my my MIL's family and I'm pretty sure they don't like me at all.
I do get along very well with everyone from my FIL's side, though.

Re: Do you feel like you just don't fit in with your In-Laws?
I don't fit in whatsoever with DH's family for several reasons, I have just really come to accept it. Some of it is culture (they really wish DH had married within his), and some of it is values and personalities. It was hard for me because I always thought I would love my In Laws and they would love me back, but for me it really has just gotten better with time.

I feel the same way... unfortunately I don't think it's ever going to change since it's been over 12 years now!

I don't think I understand the poll- is it "No" I don't fit in.. and it bothers me and "Yes" I do fit in... or
"No" I do fit in. and "Yes" I feel like I just don't fit in with the In-Laws

Sometimes I do and other times I don't. For the most part, they do try their best to make me feel comfortable but, there are a few members that seem to forget that I am in the room.

I think the language barrier adds to me not fitting in. A lot of the time I would be left out of the conversations.

I fit in pretty well with them. As with anyone else, there are things that we do very differently, but overall, I get along well with them.

We all reallly get along well. I am soooo much like my MIL that DH says to just call him Oedipus My FIL has a weird and wacky sense of humor and I give it right back to him.
DH's ex-wife was a maniac and caused so many problems in the family that his mother said she loved me from day 1.

we get along well, but arent really close like some people are with their in-laws. I think the language barrier is both a blessing and a hinderance.

Re: Do you feel like you just don't fit in with your In-Laws?
I often think I'm on MIL "black list" for not only marrying the youngest and only boy, but because we moved to GA. We did it on such short notice and I keep a safe distance....
but I think that's because it seems whenever I let someone in, I get hurt

I don't fit in with the ILs. They are completely different in every possible way. I like to keep my distance and so does my DH.

Re: Do you feel like you just don't fit in with your In-Laws?
I feel like my family and his family's backgrounds are SO different.
They come from money, we don't.
They grew up in the suburbs, we lived in the city.
They divorced, my parents are still married.
So many differences...it's hard sometimes, but overall I am adjusting well!

Nope I don't really fit in... from the outside others probably think I do.. but I will always feel like the outsider.

I feel the exact same way!!!!! I told DH that he married me to be rebellious! I do get along with MIL and FIL. But, BIL gets on my nerves!

Re: Do you feel like you just don't fit in with your In-Laws?
as for culture...it was a learning experience...so at first, I didn't fit in, but it didn't bother me at all...I never felt not welcomed...and thats all that matters...
and its amazing how much of a second language you can pick up just by listening
