Do you feel tipping is getting out of control?

I only tipped my mailman because I always put stuff in the mailbox for him to take.

I didn't tip my garbage men because I feel that I already pay very high taxes and my taxes pay their salary.

I just feel like we tip too many people.

As I've said in many posts about tipping this week, yes, I feel it is out of control.

I only tip waiters/waitresses, my hairdresser and my cleaning service.

My mailman makes a salary and my garbage men make almost as much as I do.

While I understand the sentiment behind it and agree that if someone goes ABOVE and BEYOND they may warrant a tip, I don't believe they should get a tip just for doing their jobs.

We never have tipped our garbage men in the 11 years we have lived here but we have new guys who have taken everything this year even on days they shouldn't be.
I always give something to the mailman. This year we are giving him money but we usually give wine or cookies. We have known him before he was our mailman.
