Do you find that baking cookies is more work than anything else?
I love baking cookies, really, I do!
It occured to me last night when I made 2 batches just how much work it is! anything else that I bake - cakes, pies, etc is always so much easier! less ingredients + less cleanup!
am I the only one who feels this way?

I think its the multiples batches that make it seem like really hard work. Once you get a cake in the oven, its all done...with cookies you have to keep making more...and more...and more...
But I love them.

it's not just the # of batches... the cookies I made last night have a loooong list of ingredients and then you have spoon the batter out on to cookie sheets, bake, then let them cool, then put them on a rack... then put them all into an airtight container.
then there's the cleanup of all the cookie sheets and the cooling racks. UGH!

I used to feel that way... This is my first year baking with the stand mixer and it felt like baking cookies FLEW by this year.
I'm hoping after I get used to the stand mixer it doesn't go back to feeling like it takes forever. (since I'm pretty sure you have one!)
I still think it's worth it. I LOVE homemade chocolate chip cookies.

It is a lot of work! Especially when using a cookie press - loading the barrel, shooting the cookies, re-loading... But the end result is always worth it!

same same......I think it's the whole cutting out baking cooling and starting over again that's the time part. I find making the dough is the easy part

I love using a cookie press -- rolling dough is the killer for me.
Either way, it's a lot of work but oh so worth it!!

For me, its a labor of love. I love doing them, but it is a lot of work and time consuming. Especially now that I have to manage a 9 month old as well.

Re: Do you find that baking cookies is more work than anything else?
oh it's
I make 3-4 types of cookies.... about 200-300 cookies in all. the chocolate chip and other drop cookies aren't that bad at all.... since we have a kitchenaid mixer, and can make 4 batches at one time.
BUT..... every year I also make spekulatius (german spice cookies with pressed christmas images).... oh they take FOREVER you have to freshly grind about 6 different spices and add it to the four. After the dough is chilled, you have to roll out about 1 cup worth until it's almost as thin as a cracker... THEN you press the designs, and cut out each cookie and transfer to parchment for baking. what a mess.....
but worth it
