Do you get dressed up for work?

I'll be honest my old school I wore jeans almost everday( dark wash with a nice top and boots) unless it was hot and I wore black or Khaki capris. Everyone was super casual and since its DOE there is no dress code anyway. In my new school I would like to step it up a bit. What do you typically wear to work and how often do you wear jeans?

My dressing up is JEANS lol b/c I'm a phys ed teacher! I love it!

Even though theres no dress code in my school teachers basically never ever wear any type of jeans except for Fridays. If you're going to wear jeans you donate $5 to that weekly charity. (though you dont have to, everyone does)

I mix it up. In the winter I wear Cords, Jeans, Dress pants. In the spring/fall capris or dresses.

I did a lot of walking so for shoes it was boots in the winter, flats or flip flops the rest of the time. Now that I am driving to my new school I just bought a bunch of heels So excited to not have to take trains,walking, and subways into my dress factor anymore!!!

I'm still untenured, so I refuse to wear jeans, even on Fridays. I've only worn jeans a couple of times, during State testing or Finals week.

But even veteran teachers in my school wear jeans only on Fridays, if that. Of course there is an exception or two to the rule, but it's not common to see lots of teachers in jeans.

I wear dress pants or capris and a nice top (sometimes though I'll wear a plain fitted t-shirt and dress it up w/a nice necklace or something or shrug) and either dress sandals or comfortable flat dress shoes...

I work for DOE and you'd be amazed what some teachers wear at my school. I'm talking sweats and sneakers, and I don't mean the PE teachers. But most people are casual & neat, but not dressed up, with occasional jeans, sandals in the spring/fall, etc.

I ALWAYS get dressed up. I wear dresses and skirts more or less everyday. I hate how dress pants look on me. The only exception is on dress down Fridays, but even then I wear a cute top and heels. Another teacher commented that she had never seen me in flats before Regents week this year.

I always wear dress pants, except one day a week we wear "gym" attire b/c we teach gym! I feel I look too "young" in my jeans and usually only wear them on field trips lol

ummm people in my school (DOE) wear sweatsuits I haven't dressed up since my first 6 months at my school I felt silly dressing up when everyone else was SOOOOO casual!! It almost made me feel pretentious. I wish the dress code was more strongly enforced though because maybe it would command more respect.

I kind of feel like the "teacher dress code" at a school is a reflection of the school.

When I worked at a scary, horrible school in Brooklyn, all the teachers wore jeans and tee shirts. The jeans might even have rips in them, the shirts stained, and dirty sneakers. I didn't wear jeans for my first 3 years when I was 22-25 years old because I felt I looked like a student. But then I just gave in and started dressing like everyone else, once I started hating the place as much as everyone else. It was like, "they can't bother treating me with respect, why should I ruin a nice pair of pants to come work here?"

Now that I teach at a great school on L.I., where the teachers and students are happy to be there, teachers dress a lot better. It's like everyone shows respect for the place by bothering to look nice once they get there, you know? We dress down on Fridays but "pay" for the privilege by throwing a couple of bucks into a jar for a different charity every week.

I usually wear dress pants and nice top or skirt/dress. Fridays everyones wears jeans. I try to look professional and am always careful to not wear anything revealing or tight. Some teachers wear things I would wear to a bar...who wants that attention from MS boys

As a teacher I very rarely got dressed up. I didn't look like a slob or a mess, but my clothes were casual most of the time.

I teach Special Ed. Elem. and I dress neat but comfortable. I also avoid heels or any shoes I can't run in. We have kids that are "runners" so it is important to be able to move! Also, a lot of the kids like to sit/ lay on the floor at any given time, so I feel like heels are a liability!

I hardly ever wear jeans. Occasionally on a Fri. but it's really frowned upon. I usually wear dress pants/dresses/skirts. I teach 1st grade. The custodians call me shoes b/c I always have extra pairs in my room. I'll wear heals in the hall and then casual ones in the classroom

I have to dress up for work. My district pretty much has an unwritten rule. Jeans are a big no-no! They make it well known when you're hired. I usually wear dress pants and heels with a nice shirt.

even though im in nyc, we pretty much all dress up. my principal is very strict and likes to run a tight ship. kinda an unwritten rule, but you hardly ever see jeans around my building- its a middle school

i never wear jeans,
i wear dress pants or skirts everyday
i might consider jeans with a dressy shoes or boots but it is frowned upon and i just don't feel right
i have actually worn my dress pants with sneakers or uggs when i was pregnant but still no jeans
in one school i worked at we would have dress down fridays or on school trips and when i wore jeans i felt too casual, almost like i was one of the kids but those are my only exceptions

dresses or dress pants every day, with heels. fridays i'll wear nice jeans with heals and a nice top.

I usually dress up every day. The Brooklyn DOE school I was in last year I was probably the most dressed up teacher.

On Fridays, I usually go nice jeans and shoes/boots.

Super rainy or snowy days I opt for jeans too. However, I usually am the black dress pants and cute top type of girl!

I wear heels everyday. i have to say that i am always dressed up for work. I just feel better that way

I wear dress pants with a cardigan and tank, or dresses to work every day. I never wear jeans.

I never wear jeans. I wear dress pants, skirts, or dresses. For shoes, it's mainly black loafers in the winter (comfy, not pretty) or ballet flats. I hardly ever wear a heel. Most of my clothes are from NY&Co., Ann Taylor, or Macys.

Not usually. I have to really be in the mood to get dressed up.
