Do you keep your little ones clothes?

I mean after they have grown out of them? I have about 3 huge bins full of Ava's clothes. Part of me says to keep them in case we decide to have another baby and we have another girl.....then the other part of me says to just get rid of them and only keep the really really cute stuff that I loved. Just wondering what everyone else did?

I kept everything that wasn't stained and that I didn't hate. Good thing too because I'm pregnant with another daughter.

Re: Do you keep your little ones clothes?

I would keep everything that is still in good shape, UNLESS you are sure that you are DONE having children and have taken permanent steps to prevent another pregnancy.

IMO, there's no reason to keep clothing that someone else you know could use...or even, someone less fortunate. Why let it rot in the attic, KWIM?

I kept just the few sentimental items from each of my kids that truly had special memories/meaning to me. The rest gets passed along to friends, relatives or Goodwill.

Re: Do you keep your little ones clothes?

I saved all of my son's preemie outfits and I saved all of DD's also. I plan to get a quilt made out of them since I don't plan on having anymore children.

I kept everything.

When I found out that I was having a boy, my friend, who was done having kids AND moving, sent me a 20lb box of her son's clothing and it was a freakin lifesaver.

I'd like to be able to do that one day for someone, but I am going to save them for a few years, just in case (although I am 99% sure we are one and done)

Joseph gets his clothes from my sister's cousin-in-law's sons. Joseph's old clothes go to his little cousin.

Maddie gets her old clothes from her older cousin & passes them to my sister's SIL's daughter.

When I wasn't "done", I couldn't part with any of them. I was relieved that my sister's ILs had opposite sex kids so I can pass mine on.

DITTO.

and some of the things that have special meaning (beside the truly sentimental ones) are the spiderman and buzz shirts that he has to wear over and over and OVER again Chat Icon

Im a big fan of each kid having new clothes. I also like seeing them wear what their brother wore the year before, its kinda cute to me, but just a few things that I really liked.

Lately Im a "get rid of it" kinda person, anything I havent used or worn or needed in a few months, gets passed along to someone.

Similar situation here.

My BF's daughter was born in April (10 lbs), my DD was born in March (6 lbs) so she gives me all of her DD's clothes for my DD. I don't think I've bought one outfit.

A triplet mommy (B/B/G) my MIL (and nrthshgrlChat Icon ) knows has given me a lot of boy clothes for DS. Her kids were tiny and born in the fall so many things so far fit.

My brother will get either the boys clothes or the girls clothes as his child is due in March, the same month my children were born.

The other gender I'll hold onto for a while for someone else.

Re: Do you keep your little ones clothes?

I have saved all of her really nice outfits or anything that has special sentimental value to it....threw out all stained, ripped, stretched out or just casual play clothes. They are in bins in my basement marked by size. They take up A LOT of room because DD always has tons and tons of outfits for each season.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Do you keep your little ones clothes?

I kept everything till I knew I was done. I had a boy then a girl. When I was pg with #3, we found out the gender with him. When I found out he was a boy, I had a preggo urge to take bins and bins of clothes out of my attic and reorganize the boy clothes and get rid of all the girl clothes. I got rid of some boy clothes I knew I wouldnt use again (my first boy was a late fall baby, my 2nd boy was a late spring baby so there was a lot of things I knew I wouldnt use) Except a few VERY sentimental pieces, I get rid of it all. As my DS #2 & DD outgrow, I keep it in bags for friends or to give away. My DH is so happy whenever a bag goes out the door.

My SIL (DH's brothers wife) gives me clothes for my DS, I never have to buy ANYTHING. I share with my other SIL (my brother's wife) bc our boys are the same age.

That same SIL (my bro's wife) gives me clothes for my DD. Yet another SIL gives me clothes for my DD too. And that SIL has a boy who is 5 months younger than my DS #2 so I give her all my DS's outgrown clothes.

Lots of clothes stay in the family. I give my DDs clothes to friends mostly.

Re: Do you keep your little ones clothes?

I have everything that is still in good shape. A friend told me I shouldn't do that -- that each child deserves their own new stuff, not just the first, but I just can't see spending all the money again, for stuff that was only worn a couple of times and is still in perfect condition.

I can't see the logic of your friend's advice and I'm glad you keep the stuff. With the cost of everything, it seems sort of silly IMO to need to give a 2nd child everything new. The child isn't any less special bc he or she is wearing a hand me down. Like you said, most of the stuff was hardly worn. I guess if I was a spendaholic with the money to back it up, I'd be thrilled to buy all new stuff.

I kept all DS's clothes until I found out #2 was a girl, then started giving them away to people I know would use them.

DD clothes I have also given away too because accirding to DH, we are done. I'm not so sure.

I did save a few special newborn clothes from each of them, as well as their special occasion outfits.

I kept only the things that weren't stained and that I loved. I also kept all his premie stuff. The rest I handed down to my sister or sold on ebay.

I kept everthing that wasn't stained and gave alot of the 0-3 months to my SIL (she had her DS 8 days I had my DD). Since her son was born in July and my DS was born in April only 0-3 months are really an option and then maybe some 6-9. I keep the sentimal outfits. I just can't part with the rest, especially now that we are done with kids.

I've got it all up in the attic. I'm pretty convinced that i will have another boy, so I'm not throwing/giving anything away just yet.

Re: Do you keep your little ones clothes?

I keep a few special outfits and newborn ones and then donate the rest. Even when Jack was born and we knew we would have more, I still gave his stuff away. Our family and friends are extremely generous with gifts so when Molly was born, we received a ton of things and I never even used the unisex stuff I had saved from Jack.

The way I see it, if we have more, a few onsies and sleepers are very inexpensive. I'd rather donate the used clothes to those that are less fortunate that have them sitting in my house "just in case".
