Do you know anyone who has had cataract surgery?
A family member is considering having this done. So, I'm just trying to get some info...was it successful, how was the recovery process, etc. TIA!

my mother did and wound up having the gerneal lasics too. She had no problems a quick recovery and can see without glasses. She loves it!

O.k., so it's not as "bad" as it sounds. The literature that was given to us states that they shatter the lens and then suction the pieces out... So, we were a little bit apprehensive about having it done.

I had it about 9 years ago. It wasn't bad at all...it was quick and the recovery was nothing. My eye was sore for about 2 days.

my grandmother just had it this year.. and my dh's great aunt...
my gmas went perfect she sees great.. she got some new fangled expensive lens
dh's great aunt got basic stuff and ended up with eye infection and still had eye drama
id say have ur family member research the new stuff out there... it really helped my gma
the recovery process was fantatsic for gma.. she only had to put drops in her eyes a few times a day... and was good to go a day later

My uncle had it done in both eyes. His vision was always terrible - he can barely see AT ALL without his glasses - and the surgery improved his vision to the best it had ever been in his life. He still has terrible vision, but any improvement is a good thing.

One of my good friends had it less than a week before my wedding. He was in work the next day and was perfectly fine by my wedding.

My oldest DD had cateract surgery this year on her left eye.She had a detached retina when she was 4 and they let a cateract form to protect her eye for a lens implant. Both the surgeries we 100% successful

Same with my grandmother. She had it done at age 82 & had avery quick recovery. She had to use drops for several days to keep her eyes lubricated, and it felt "weird" for her to not squint or reach for her glasses, bu it was a short period of adjustment. She had the surgery 5 years ago & has had no further degeneration.

My grandma had cataract surgery on both her eyes and it went wonderfully. She is going to be 90 in October and doesn't need glasses at all!
