Forever, usually. They should definitely still have it.
I was married in the Church where I was baptized, and they had my information when we went to get married.

Re: Do you know how long a church keep baptismal records on file?
Yes, they'll have it.
My niece recieved her confirmation a couple of years back out of state. I was her sponsor and they wanted proof of my church participation. I went to 'my' church. I couldn't remember exactly when I was confirmed so they looked up my baptism. They had my record from 1975 when I was baptised and next to it, my confirmation date. The book was OLD. Seriously OLD. Everything was handwritten. It was kinda neat.

Re: Do you know how long a church keep baptismal records on file?
Yep, they will have it. I don't think they ever got rid of those records. I was baptized in 1986 and I picked up the records from my Church a few months back for my wedding.

Re: Do you know how long a church keep baptismal records on file?
They never get rid of them. I know this b/c we went for our son's christening to talk to the deacon. He told us ALLLLLLL about the bapitsmal certificates.
He said the church u are baptized at has the card and then they update it via HAND on the back when you get communion, confirmation and marriage. I asked him what if you did all those at different churches.
He said that the bapitsmal church will be notified of your sacraments and is required to update the certificate.
So yes you can get it

They definitely still have it. She's going to need that when she gets married someday so that should tell you how long they keep it.

FYI- they never do update the original church! Never! I had to go all over for DH's stuff.

Then your DH's church missed something. I used to work in a church rectory and updated those books ALL the time. When we had Confirmations & Communions it was my job to send the letters to the original baptismal church for their records to be updated and wait for the forms to come back saying they were updated in addition to entering the info into our computer database.
Those books are kept forever and usually kept in a fire proof vault as well.

Re: Do you know how long a church keep baptismal records on file?
They have to keep it pretty much forever. When we were getting married in the church, we needed to prove that we were baptised in the Catholic church. I didn't have my baptismal certificate and went back to the church where I was baptised (26 years later) and was able to get a copy.
