Do you lecture your pet or talk to him
When we come up to NY in May my co-worker will be watching Simba. She has 2 poodles herself (one is part jack russel) and I tell him everyday he better be good for Marta and just because Amber does something does not mean Simba can do it too.
If Simba is bad hubby actually lectures Simba on why he should not have done what he did.
I actually want to crack up laughing when he does that because the dog just stares at him like he's really listening and hubby is really laying into him the importance of being a good dog. Hubby actually punished the dog one day. It lasted about 3 hours but he punished him

lol - all the time and I catch myself in the middle of it and think "Have I gone crazy!" --- but the best is when she looks right at you like "Please stop talking and let me play with my donkey again!!!"

I talk to them all the time! My favorite is when they get mad at us...Oreo will sit right in front of you with her back to you. She won't respond to her name or commands until you actually go to her and apologize...

Omg the other day Tiny was sitting on the couch on my lap and there was a song on MTV...His little head was moving back and forth and I said you like the song? He looked at me and then turned back to the tv and continued to bob his head Scott

Re: Do you lecture your pet or talk to him
We have a lot of good conversations. Katie just tilts her head but Annie will actually bark and wine when we talk. I sing to them also. We talk on the phone to them if we're away. The best is when they lick the phone. I always talk to Katie about how she should learn from Annie like being housebroken and guarding the perimeter of the yard. Yes, I know I'm a nut.

lol - I do this with Golem ALL the time! I even take that next step and make up little songs for him! Our favorite dance time is Saturday Night at the 80's on WPLJ I tend to talk to him a lot too, esp. when he's in trouble - and the "Mommy is mad at you right now" voice comes out I don't know why, but reasoning with a 130 pound, 2-year-old Rottie puppy actually seems to work!

Re: Do you lecture your pet or talk to him
Yes, I have.
My dog now lives with my dad but when I lived with them she would sit by me when I graded papers and I would "teach" her Global History.
I think, at this point, she could write a better essay than most of my students
Doesn't she look smarter?

Re: Do you lecture your pet or talk to him
I don't have a pet yet, but when I did I would talk to them all the time.
Heck, my mom puts her cat on the phone and I talk to her! I've gone crazy too! LOL My mom swears her cat knows when I am going to visit.

Re: Do you lecture your pet or talk to him
DH is away during the week at a school so its just me and Piper. WE have longgggg talks. Particularly in the am, we get ready together and she listens to me comment about the news, we sing songs (ok, I sing, she listens) and we make our decisions together about what to wear and what errands need to get done that day. She's really quite the conversationalist..haha-speaks a little Spanish too...haha.

I do this all the time with my dog Peanut, or I will say go get Daddy and she will run and bark at him till he comes. My DH also taught her to pick up her dish and bring it to us when we say, Are you hungry.

I was on the phone with hubby and the dog was sitting on my lap. I said "wheres brian" and the dog looked up and began looking around, then looked at me and did a hmmp. Put his head back down and closed his eyes.
2 min later the garage door opens and the dog bolted from my lap to the window and to the door.
This dog has got to be part human
