Does anyone know if a children's playset is considered an accessory structure?

Good question. We had ours put in when we moved her last year. It is from Wood Kingdom and it has a club house type thing on top. They never mentioned it and I never even thought of it. Maybe give the town a call.

I hope not because we didn't get one. It never occurred to me that you may need a permit.

Do you need one? Probably. You need one for a small dog house AND should you decide you want to take down that small dog house...you need a demo permit.
Do most folks get them? No. The fine is double what the permit would have initially cost you...so you have to weigh the "risk."

I just checked with the Town of Oyster Bay-they said I don't need a permit for a swing set. I am relieved because we got a swing set last year and we will have inspectors coming for another project. One less thing to worry about! Check with your town.
