We play.... throw all the toys out of the bath tub and mommy will pick them up, catch with the dog, Hide and seek. (He always hides in the same place) Just silly little games, nothing structured.

Re: Do you "play games" with your 1 yr olds?
I bought a mess of games, finger puppets, books, cards, dolls, etc.. when Robbie was a baby. I had all these special activities planned to stimulate him - but he never was particuarly interested in doing the stuff that I read about in books. He tried to eat the finger puppets, toddled off when I tried to keep him focused on vocabulary words.. and it stressed me out to NO END. So I stopped and just started engaging him naturally - singing, simple songs and silly faces, tickling games, stories that I made up for him, long walks to explore different kinds of rocks, trees, bugs, etc... And maybe I wasn't target training any specific neuropathways or whatever hooey that the books told me I should be doing - but I had a great time and my kids loved spending time with me and what more can be asked of a mommy and baby?

Re: Do you "play games" with your 1 yr olds?
I wouldn't say they are structured games, but we always have played games. Its an occupational "hazard" as an educator to always be obsessing over "educating" but as someone who is an autism professional as well, I always emphasized eye contact and facial expressions.... so I do a lot of games where he has to watch my face for changes (even from birth - I would make a neutral face, then a wide eyed face with a tickle, for example) - now that he's so engaging, I do the same type of "I'm going to get you games" and I got your toesies, etc where he has to watch my face and eyes to know when I will "get" him - everything is active and chase-related more than anything else. A lot of singing and movement as well - dancing, etc. We are just a very playful and active family - his 11 yr old sister plays with him like crazy too....
