Do you remember my supermarket rant two weeks ago?

Two weeks ago I was on line behind someone in the express lane at the supermarket and the woman had like 40 things and she broke it into two orders. Drove me mad.

Today I'm in the SAME SUPERMARKET, SAME LINE and I am behind a woman that had just about the right amount of items, maybe a few over. No big deal.

BUT THEN she has the cashier ring it up in THREE seperate orders!!!!!!!!!!!! IT TOOK ALMOST AS LONG AS THE WOMAN WITH THE 40 THINGS!!!!!!!!

What is wrong with people?!?!? If you are on the EXPRESS line, obviously you want to move QUICKLY and you have to assume everyone else wants to also.

Therefore, if you are going to play games with splitting things up for whatever reason - get on the slower line.

Am I wrong???

Nope, you're not wrong. I would complain to the manager. Let them know this is going on.

I wonder what would happen if you pointed out what she was doing and acted like you were politely correcting an innocent mistake on her part (or the next thoughless person, etc.). What would people like that say if they were (classily) called out?

She wouldn't care probably. People usually split orders so they can use more than one coupon and they figure as long as they have less than the 15 or whatever items, it is their right to go on that line

This irks me as much as the people trying to 'figure out' the self serve machine when there is a line of people behind them. Figure it out when nobody is behind you!

I am guilty of jamming this up the first few times I used it. Chat Icon I knew what I was supposed to do but got a little flustered making sure everything scanned right and I couldn't find the coupon slot. It's one of those things you don't know until you are there.

I don't know...the way I see it, you can split the order & use as many coupons as your heart desires, BUT everyone's time is equally valuable, and the express lineis for ONE person with no more than x items, so unless she can clone herself, I say she either has to get back on the back of the line & save the OP her 6 minutes, or play her games in a regular line with everyone else who's gonna walk out of the store with a full cart. Re: Do you remember my supermarket rant two weeks ago?

When i go to the market and get a few items, literally i will go to the market and buy 3 things, I want to get out as fast as possible because i am in a rush, that is what i think the express line is for.

The cashiers need to stop this. They need to tell them NO, and to go on another line.

I dont shop that often so its never happened to me, but if it did i would definately say something to the person or the cashier for not enforcing the rules
