Do you return your bottles and cans?

When I lived in the city I never returned them, now we totally do although not often enough! DH went last night and it was almost $20 worth! Mostly Diet Coke cans.

We have wrap every other week that picks the cans and bottles up.

We do it all the time. Usually get back $30 each time

We have a HUGE bag that we pile up, eventually we go to the supermarket and do it.

We don't, b/c we live in a small apt. and have nowhere to store them. I wish we did, b/c we would get so much money back. I hate to think of all the money we have thrown away by not getting them back.

I recently have been returning them. I want to puke when I think of how much $ we threw out not to mention the environment

Whenever I see an empty can/bottle I put it in our bin so that we can return it, but my DH throws a lot of the cans in the regular garbage.

Usually about every 2 months or so I'll go and return what we had in our bin, but it's never too much, usually like $3 or less. I am sure that if my DH saved all the cans it would be much more.

Yes I do-I used to put them in a garbage bag outside and go everyone once in awhile but lately I've just been taking whatever we have each time I go to the grocery store..I went yesterday and it was over $3 it is such a waste to throw them out! Not to mention bad for the environment.

Long Island doesn't have curbside recycling, does it? I just realized that when you're all talking about throwing them out versus redeeming them. I don't redeem them, but I always recycle them. Recycling is mandatory in NYC. You can get fined for putting your bottles, cans, etc. in the regular trash.

Nope, I just recycle them. My father returns his beer bottles.

Yes I do. Biggest haul was $17.

We just leave them at the curb. Usually someone takes them before the truck comes for them!

NO...we put them out for the wrap pickup

I make Dan do it because he drinks 95% of the canned soda in the house. And he drinks like a case a day! I am not kidding..... So he goes every other week and gets close to $10-$12 back in cans alone!

We really don't have any bottles, we don't drink soda, but we recycle everything with the town.

No, I wish I had the time to get that $$ back, but we do recycle each and every one

We don't, but we save them for my DH's Great uncle. When he gets enough $$ he buys savings bonds for his Great grandkids.

There's a guy who drives around our neighborhood the night before recycling pickup, so I try and make sure the can is out there for him when he comes through.

We redeem them - why not? Although DHs friend did make fun of us when he saw the bags of cans in the trunk of the car - he called us cheap!
