do you think cosco/bj's/ wholesale clubs are worth it?
My membership is up at bj's and Im not sure if I should rejoin. I find that whenver Im there I spend a boatload of money and wind up throwing things out cause I get sick of eating them... Do you think its worth it? DO you find that you save alot from going there?

Yes, but we keep to our list and don't buy impulsively. We also dont buy anything that is 'fresh' that would expire. I like the convenience of never having to buy TP, tissues, paper towels, etc at the regular store. It makes the weekly trips to the supermarket for fruits/veggies so much easier.

I think that you can get things for the same price in the stores as long as you get them on sale and stock up then.
We only have a membership because we bummed the extra card off of my MIL

I think it's worth it, but you gotta knwo your prices.
My mom uses it for Neutragena (ya know how expensive that stuff is) b/c she can buy 3 things of soap for $9 when in the grocery store, 1 sells for $9. She also uses it for tylenol and some foods too (they have GREAT fish!!!)

Re: do you think cosco/bj's/ wholesale clubs are worth it?
not worth it at all for me. if everyone shopped like me (coupons, sales (at supermarkets) theyd be out of business.
I love seeing how much people pay for things in bulk because they are in this big "warehouse" and lugging this thing that weighs more than you... and the price is much higher than what I pay. on almost everything (esp toiletpaper, paper towels, toothpaste, shampoos).-yes same exact brands.
Some things we do like there: cakes, meats, milk/eggs/bread, muffins, party paper goods, snacks.
but its barely worth it to me. we've joined like 3 times in a row and MAYBE went 5 times the whole year.

I like BJs for: ---Milk, cheese, eggs, veggies all are better priced than supermarkets. --Things you use a lot off (paper items). --I have also gotten random items like workout clothes there, super soft 500ct sheets, luggage, cards. --Just got a printer there too.

It's worth it. We use it for frozen chicken, fresh steaks, water, milk, fruit(we eat at least 2 pieces a day), bread, bagged salads, cleaning supplies, paper towels, razors, bar soap, baby wipes, baby formula, vitamins, etc.
I buy cleaning supplies and razors about 2x a year.

Worth it, especially since some BJ's have gas and it's usually 10 cents cheaper than the best price around.

I agree. I love Costco. The price of their cheese alone is worth it. It is 1/2 the price of the supermarkets. I also like to buy the razors, wipes, lump crab meat, veal chops and lamb chops there. I only buy certain things as well since there are better deals in the supermarket.

Re: do you think cosco/bj's/ wholesale clubs are worth it?
We actually did not reniew our BJ membership.
DH uses the coupons and check the fliers for sales. We end up cheaper at the grocery store and without a membership.

Re: do you think cosco/bj's/ wholesale clubs are worth it?
OMG yes totally! We have Costco here right near our house, when you walk into Costco...its just like being in a Costco on Long Island...sometimes I fantasize that I walk out of Manchester Costco and be on Old Country Road...its set up the same, the food is the same..its great! Also, I can get lots of American products that I can't get anywhere else in England...LIKE... Ziploc Brand bags Oreo Cookies Chicken of the Sea Tuna Jelly Belly Jelly Beans (in a big tub) Big Pretzels Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake (although not sure how good it is) Kosher Hot Dogs (UK Style, but yummy!!) 3M Sponges (can't get good sponges here) Sometimes they have Cozy Shack Rice Pudding!! Its totally worth it for us! We love it!

Re: do you think cosco/bj's/ wholesale clubs are worth it?
Yes I do! I used to always say "I would NEVER pay a fee to shop somewhere!"
in October '06 I got a 60-day free trial membership to BJ's and was SO impressed with the amount of $ I was saving vs. grocery & drug stores!! the value is there for sure. not everything is less, but for a lot of stuff that we buy, it was totally worth it!! so I joined for $30 - they gave me $15 off
ETA: for the Pellegrino alone it was worth it for us to join. DH drinks that stuff like it's going out of style! those bottles cost $1.69 at Stop & Shop and $1 a bottle at BJ's. that's quite a difference!

We go to BJs and I think its worth it. We get DS juices there and our paper towels, toliet paper, and cleaning supplies. My sis is always using my card to get her DD pampers and other baby items in bulk.

Re: do you think cosco/bj's/ wholesale clubs are worth it?
It depends on what you get there and if you have a big family. With 2 people (my DH and I), most things there don't pay for us. We are lucky though that my dad works in a Costco as an optician and we have membership through him.

Re: do you think cosco/bj's/ wholesale clubs are worth it?
It's worth it if you know how to shop it. Certain things we never buy, because its not cheaper than buying it in a supermarket (like soda in cans, sauce in jars, etc.).
Things we get there, and some are purely for convenience that you can't get from a supermarket, are: frozen, skinless chicken breasts milk (cheaper than supermarket) TP Paper towels hand soap contact lens solution I even got my glasses there! frozen waffles
