Do you think having a birthday party 5-6 weeks prior to the kid's birthday is way too early?
I'm due right around DS's bday. I was originally going to have the party 2-3 weeks prior but I think that may be cutting it close in case I go early.
Now I'm thinking of doing the party 5-6 weeks early. Then we'll have a family only bday party on DS's actual bday. I'd like to have time to get everything set up and ready prior to DC #2's arrival.
Do you think 5-6 weeks early is too early for a bday party?

It seems to me to be a bit early. I mean, if your child's birthday is in March, that means holding the party in January. Seems odd to me.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought perhaps it was a bit early. I'll stick to 3 weeks early. At least it will still be in the same month.

I have a friend that celebrates her DD's half birthday She is a Nov. baby and she prefers having outdoor parties so she celebrates it in May. She does a cake and just immediate family on her actual birthday then has a party with friends and family in May.

Isn't your DS only going to be 2? Is this a family party, or are you going all out?
Maybe the size of the party is what needs to be changed. Just a thought (from a mom who didn't have a 2nd b-day party, but is going all out for # 3 ).

It is early, but under the circumstances I see nothing wrong with it.

Yes, DS is turning 2. We went back and forth about having a kiddie party and decided to have one that will be fun for DS. I don't think we're going all out. It will be a 2 hour party with about 10 kids at one of those kiddie places. It's a bit pricey for what it is but I don't think I'll be doing anything except favors and a cake.

My DS was invited to a b-day party for one of his school friends this past June - the child's birthday is in January. The mom wanted to do a pool party so she put it off for six months.
Do what works for you and if people ask about it, just give them whatever short explanation you are comfortable with.

I think it is a little early, but you are the one who is pregnant and I think you need to do what is best for you.
