Do you think it is necessary
to know both sides of your family medical history before TTC... I have no information about my biological fathers medical history, I dont know what runs in the family, or even nationality. I am scared to TTC without all of this info...

Re: Do you think it is necessary
I am just worried because I dont know about any possible conditions/diseases/birth defects that may be in the family history... But I guess a lot of people are in my situation.

i don't think it's necessary .. but a friend of mine was VERY nervous about this and wound up getting full genetic testing done.

Are you running into any problems that this issue is going to need to be addressed? If not, try not to stress about it until you know

Honestly, I have not run into any issues other than people including my MIL telling me that I should not TTC until I know all my history...and it is really frustrating. I have no information about my bio father other than his name (which is hard enough to deal with). Now I am considering TTC and everyone is freaking me out!

Re: Do you think it is necessary
One thing you can get tested for is cystic fibrosis. You could be a carrier but not know. Both parents have to be carriers though to pass it on to children. So when you get your blood test done, they can test for CF to see if you're a carrier.
Other than that, don't worry! Whatever happens happens..... you can't let it get to you.
