Do you think pet strollers are stupid?
I'm asking because I have a cat...who loves to be outside but can't (for many issues, two of them being that he's an indoor only cat and he has an autoimmune disorder).
DH and I are going to start walking around our cul-de-sac and subdivision to help with his treatment, his heart has to be healthy.
I'd love to bring my cat but he's 15 lbs of lovin'. Plus on days that DH doesn't feel well, I can always go with Blue and get my exercise on.
PetSmart sells pet strollers & I'm dying to get one but DH isn't so enthused. We don't have any kids and I'd be embarrased to walk him around and have people "peek" and see a cat.
Am I overly crazy? Should I get one?
Which one do you like more?

Re: Do you think pet strollers are stupid?
i'm a cat person too, but i can't see spending the $$ on a stroller for a pet. i can see where fresh air is important and cats like the outdoors, but it's not something i would invest in.
eta: i voted OTHER

Re: Do you think pet strollers are stupid?
i was just going to ask the SAME THING
ETA...i would be embarrassed walking around with one of them in public places..
around the neighborhood maybe...
I guess i can see it being used more if i had a cat..
just do not get why it is used for a dog.. isn't the point of walking a dog is to get exercise?

Thank you!!
Did you read my reasons though?
I guess taking him with me would keep me "company" on days that DH can't...
I just can't get over the fact that it looks like a kid's stroller. I think I'd be embarrased...and want to hear that it's not..even though I know better!
Why can't they make it clearly for pets!

yes....when i saw it in the post about the Huntington Fall Fest...someone said they saw people with dogs in strollers..
so i wondered how many people actually do this..
and why (althought my thought was more in the dog perspective)

Re: Do you think pet strollers are stupid?
i read your post and i see where your reasons, but i would feel silly with one of those things. and i can't imagine a cat, a 15 lb cat at that, would be happy in one of those things.

Yeah, that's what prompted me too.
I don't know about dogs, because if we had one it would be obvious we would walk him or her...no need for strollers.
But for cats...would I just be the "crazy cat lady"?
HELP!! Please "talk back" to me!!
Tell me WHY you hate them...if you would laugh at someone with them...if I'm losing my marbles!

Re: Do you think pet strollers are stupid?
Sasha I'd get one if mine wanted to go outside- but they don't. I don't like that it looks so much like a kids stroller- there is one out there that is clearly for pets. how about this one?

Re: Do you think pet strollers are stupid?
Get it!!!
i LOVE them! i am actually tryingt o get one myself. i went to Petco but they didnt have any.
MY reasons for wanting them (since i know ppl will wonder why) is because i like to take my dogs with me, and YES they walk, BUT sometimes in the city there are parts that are VERY congested and make me soooo nervous that someone will step on my dogs (its happened to tink), but MAINLY i'd use it for going into stores. i mean, some stores allow dogs and those are the ones id birng them into, but sometimes its hard to shop and hold your dog at the same time (i rarely will ever put them on the floor in a store) obviously, i dont bring them when im palnning on doing a big shopping trip, but sometimes you get caught up. also, sometimes small dogs get tired very easily after walking a certian distance.... i cant count the times when the dogs' tiny feetsies couldnt keep up with me... they start to slow down, then slower and thenslower and i end up carrying them.
i think its just convienent.
eta: i cant believe i forgot my main reason for using one-------- on the LIRR! dogs in lirr MUST be crated/bagged, etc and they get antsy in their bag somtimes on long trips, so theyd have more room to move around freely in a stroller, not to mention it wouldnt be so heavy on my poor shoulder

Yeah, I don't like that it looks so much like a kid's one either.
I had forgotten about that one...thanks Becca. I'm updating now.

i like the ones that look like baby strollers because its less obvious you have an animal with you and id imagine less ppl would come up to you.

Thank you Jess!!
I like the ones that look like a baby carriage but I would be so embarrased to use it!
I think I'm going to go with "B"...it's the cheapest one and it's a perfect mix of A and C...plus I think he'd like being down on the ground to see everything.
BNL2005- *I live in suburban Atlanta, I don't take trains. It would be strictly for walks around the neighborhood*

Jess, check out this site...they have tons and free shipping!
The one I think I'm going to get is from Walmart...I think you boycott them though. I used to, but gave up.
