Do you use a primer under your foundation?
Just curious.
I was always on the fence about if primers really did anything or were just another step/another thing to buy.
I have tried all different kinds, nothing ever wowed me or made me feel like it was holy grail, can't live without it
But I use one daily because I feel like it has to do something right?
Well yesterday I must have not been in my right mind in the morning (which is happening a lot lately!  ) and I must have forgotten and just went right to my foundation.
I was looking in the mirror before lunch time and noticed that my make up looked like shit...it was all coming off, it was patchy, my pores looked huge. I had to pretty much reapply. Then it hit me- I don't think I used primer this morning!
So maybe there is something to it?
Do you guys find it makes a difference?

Most of the time I use a BB cream and don't use one with that.
When I wear foundation, I use the Smashbox photofinish one because I find it makes a huge difference.

I tried but found I was allergic to the silicone used in it. I was getting what looked like mumps under my skin. I just use Rodan & Fields oil control lotion under my foundation now. It doesn't hold quite as well as the primers, but it does help.

I tried but found I was allergic to the silicone used in it. I was getting what looked like mumps under my skin. I just use Rodan & Fields oil control lotion under my foundation now. It doesn't hold quite as well as the primers, but it does help.
They do make Silicone Free Primers.
I believe Ulta makes one called Hydro Prime
And I think Too Faced Hangover Primer is Silicone free too

I think that's the pore minimizing one.
I have it.
I actually use Pur Correcting Primer- Prep and Perfect and then put the Smashbox purple package one on just where I have huge pores.
So far, that combo is what does it for me.

From this site, I now use the Monistat Chafing Cream as my primer and I have zero complaints

It's very hydrating and soothing. Almost like a lotion or moistruizer. Smells like a pina colada too!

I use a few since i get the sephora play box and get the samples.
1. Smashbox
2. Cover FX Illuminating Primer
3. MUFE
4. Glamglow Mega Illuminzer (love)
5. Nivea Mens Shaving Balm (learned from you tube)

I've been using becca backlight primer. I think it helps. Wouldn't say it can't live without it but it makes my skin look a little smoother and gives a slight dewy finish.

Do you use a primer under your foundation?
Becca Ever Matte Primer is my holy grail..I am like an oil slick. However it doesnt play nice with Lancome Teint Idole 24 hr foundation.
Also Milk of Magnesia for special occasions-it makes my face matte.

Yes, unless i'm using BB cream
I have been using a garnier 5 sec blur one that i found because it makes my face matte and helps lessen the shine.
Also like Smashbox too - i use the green one when my Rosacea flares up

If you have a rosacea flare that you want to cover, definitely try the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness. It is pricey but it is a miracle for covering red.

I just bought that one, but haven't tried it yet. It was probably a mistake to get it now, when I will be shiny in the heat anyway.
I have been using primers more to get my foundation to lend better, than to get it to last. The basic Laura Mercier one is good for that. It is very light & refreshing. When i was using the Anastasia Beverly Hills stick foundation, I found that if I forgot primer, it was harder to apply.
I also have the basic Smashbox one, for smoothing out pores--I feel like my foundations doesn't last as long with the silicone ones though, so that is roe for just going out at night.
I just started using IT CC cream for my everyday, running late for work makeup, and I don't use a primer under that.

I use them sometimes, mainly to help "blur" pores & wrinkles.
I like:
1. The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer
2. Guerlain L’Or Pure Radiance Face Primer
3. Burberry Fresh Glow (I have both Nude & Golden, but prefer Golden for my complexion)
I have many others, but those are my go-to primers.

I use moisturizer actually. A trick I learned from a makeup artist who said that moisturizer is actually the best primer.
When I do, on the off occasion, use a real primer I use the Smashbox one. I love the way it feels on my skin.

Same here. I thought most people moisturize before makeup, no?

I need to buy this again. I have tried the expensive ones and this is the only one that truly keeps my skin from getting oily all day long. The Smashbox is ok but doesn't work quite as well as this.

I try to limit the layers of "stuff" I wear daily. For all over my face, I use a daily moisturizer, liquid foundation, and a finishing powder. For me personally, I don't want to use more than that because I feel like my skin won't breathe. Also, my foundation has silicones which is like the main ingredient in a primer. Maybe that's why I don't feel like it's necessary.
