Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
I'm thinking of joining a gym that offers child care. DH is rarely off on the days I am so if I want to do classes, I would have to put the kids in their child care. Otherwise, I'll just go late night after they go to bed - which is fine, but I won't get in any classes. Any experience with gym child care?

I have been trying to work up the guts to do this for three months now. For some reason I have terrible anxiety about it. Not that the boys won't be taken care of, just that Jack will cry.
You do it first, and let me know how it goes!

My mom brings my little sister (she's 5 and has gone for yrs) and I know we went as kids when my mom played racquet ball - it was fine, but I still don't know. I guess I'll do a few trial runs - maybe 20-minutes here and there and then see how taking a class goes.

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
Yup, I have. I take all three kids. Dh takes them as well.
Just make sure that you have a rapport with the person/gatekeeper at the kids care. make sure that they know you so that nothing stupid happens. At one of the gyms we go to, they make you write down where you are going to be in the gym, so if they need you, they know where to find you.
Some kids get anxiety but you know what? it'll lessen over time. My kids LOVE going. They have little friends there and it's FUN for them. I don't allow them to bring any of their own toys to the kids care (don't need the extra headache of having to search for the stupid toy when I'm going to leave or having to worry that it'll provoke a fight amongst the other kids) and no food/drinks (don't need any other kids drinking or eating it)..
Go for it and good luck!

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
When my oldest was in daycare full time I refused to go to the gym and put her in another daycare so I went to the gym at night.
Now that I'm a SAHM and the kids are home with me, yes I would absolutley put them in a gym daycare room. I can not wait until AnnaSophia is walking b/c they don't take kids unless they are walking. Once that day comes I'll be going 3 times a week with no guilt.

I would and do. I go to Lucille Roberts in Massapequa and bring the kids (only the two older though because it could get very crowed/rowdy and I'd fear the baby would get hurt). There is only 1 babysitter in the room.

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
I did starting at 2.5yo. DD is so social and she loves it. She has never got sick but there is only 1-3 kids in there when we go.
My gym daycare takes them at 6mo old but I don't feel comfortable leaving my 6mo-12mo old there. Since my 2nd is due in July, I don't think we'll be going for a while.

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
I just started taking DD at 4 months. My gym has a camera and one TV that you can watch the childcare room on. I go on a machine right in front of that TV and stare. Its been fine. She just sits in the car seat and the lady plays with her. I just stress that I don't want the other kids touching her. I haven't gotten up the nerve to take a class and not stare at the monitor yet.

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
When DS was 4 months old I would bring him to the gym with me. The childcare hours are 9am-12pm and now it doesn't work well for us because of his napping shedule They may add afternoon hours, then I would definitely go more! There are two babysitters in my gym childcare, one is a mature woman and the other is a younger girl (around 16) I feel very confident in their abilities to watch DS. It's never very busy, so I feel like they aren't overwhelmed with children and can focus on DS. Plus, I am never there for longer than an hour. I don't shower there, I just run in, do my workout and leave.

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
I do. We use our local Y and the kids have been going there since my DD was 8 weeks old. They love it. They have a huge playroom which is extremely clean and an outdoor play area. I feel guilty some days, especially when its after work and I haven't seen them all day but they love it and its only for an hour.

That's the main problem. I tried a couple of times and that essentially stopped me from going altogether.
The toys are not cleaned up and some moms brought sick kids there because they want to do their workout.

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
Once the babies are born, I plan on taking Landon to the gym child care while I work off the baby weight - and leave the babies home with DH. Now that he is 2 I feel more comfortable with the idea of leaving him there. I always thought about it, but like Diana said, I had anxiety over it.

Re: Do you/would you bring your child to a gym child care?
I have a gym right next door to my apartment complex. I am dying to join but for some reason i'm terrified to leave DD in a daycare- especially one where the teachers aren't building a relationship with her...
