Do your older dogs still like their toys?

Growing up, my dog loved her toys until about 2. Then she was soooo over them. DH's dog was the same way.

My grandfather's shepards who are 8 ( I NEVER spell it right!) looooooove their ball. They don't even play with it. The male especially. He takes it with him wherever he goes. It's so cute!

My IL's dog (my baby!) is 5 and she carries this stuffed puppy everywhere. She loves her stuffed dolls. It's so cute to see her walk around with it.

I just find it strange (in a cute way) that they are not puppies and still love their toys. Chat Icon

My dog was 14 when he passed away and he played with his toys until he was 12ish. He would stand there with his little fuzzy lamb and wait very patiently for someone to take it and throw it.

Katie is 3 and Annie is 5 and they still love their toys. They are always up for a game of ball or tug of war.

my pug is 8 years old and he throws his toys around like he is 6 months old still! I love it I think its the cutest thing. It brings back the puppy in himChat Icon

But I have played with him all along the 8 years. So maybe since I was constantly using them, he just has always wanted them?

My favorite is when he flings his toys in the air and the land on his back and get stick in his curly tail and he runs in circles looking for it, meanwhile its stuck on his backChat Icon

Our 6 year old lab plays with his toys still too.

our dog is about 5 years old ( hes at least 4 because we adopted him 4 years ago.. not sure exactly how old he was when we adopted him)
he LOVES his toys still! he doesn't really play with them too much, but he definitely carries them around, and always has one right with him when hes sleeping somewhere. its so funny!

Re: Do your older dogs still like their toys?

Our dog is about 9 1/2 and she still likes her toys...she never really played with them though so it's hard to compare. She will carry around certain stuffed toys (her goose and "moo ball" are her favorite) and MAYBE play with you for a minute, but mostly she just likes to have them....still hates (or is indifferent towards) rubber toys--no kongs, balls, frisbees, etc. she doesn't care. haha...

She used to dissect the stuffed toys and remove the squeakers and all the stuffing, which she only does occasionally now...but when she got 3 new toys at christmas, she "killed" one of them hehe...I guess she figured she had 2 others to keep nice Chat Icon

Our dog is 3 and still plays with her toys. She destroys most of them Chat Icon , except for her Kong and Nylabone. But she does love playing with them still.

Re: Do your older dogs still like their toys?

Bruno is 8 and plays with his toys way more than Vito who is 2.
Vito mainly just likes to steal toys.
He does love to shred a good knot though.

Re: Do your older dogs still like their toys?

When Misty was young she loved her toys for the 15 minutes that they would last. Now, she's different, her toys last for a llong time and she carries them around with her. Mostly when she is going to lay somewhere, she brings the toy, crunches it a few times and then lays on it.

My fave is when she "gives" me one of her toys.Chat Icon
