Doctor in city vs. Long Island
I am wondering if anyone is in the situation where they work in the city but live in Long Island. I just found out I am pregnant and I live in Lindenhurst but work in Manhattan. I am there most days from 8-6. What do you do in these situations, did you get a doctor in the city or did you just stay near your home? Its so hard to predict where I might be when I deliver.

Re: Doctor in city vs. Long Island
My doctor is on LI close to my house. The chances of me going into labor and having to deliver in the city are pretty small. I'll be on maternity leave for several weeks before my due date and am being monitored to see how I am progressing. I want to deliver close to home, not in the city.

LI..... becuase you may not be at work any longer when you deliver, and you are on LI all weekend, and all night on weekdays.....

Re: Doctor in city vs. Long Island
I worked in NYC, and my Dr was on LI - I delivered at Winthrop.
I used to have my OB/gyn in NYC and then realized I should switch to deliver closer to home.
Reasons being:
DH wanted to visit and stay with me as long as possible and if I delivered in NYC, its harder to get to, harder parking and you could hit traffic.
I also had some complications towards the end of the pregnancy (I had a perfect pregnancy thruout, until 32 wks) where I had to stay in the hospital for 10 days. It was so much easier being less than 5 miles from the hospital than 25 miles in NYC.
Hope that helps!
