Doctor payment question!
I was just thinking about this... my SIL only paid for her first doctors visit when she got pregnant, and the rest were covered 100% because they were considered "wellness visits"... same thing with her son, until 6 months.
Is this a standard by most insurance companies or is hers just awesome??

Re: Doctor payment question!
Mine is the same. I paid one copayment at the first visit and nothing more for the regular check ups.
I think I've paid another copay for add'l visits (if something is wrong outside of my monthly visits) or lab work.

Re: Doctor payment question!
I have no co-pays for visits to my regular doc or ob/gyn. I don't know if I have co-pays for specialists because I've never been to one.
ETA: I did have to pay for the lab work from my first visit.

Re: Doctor payment question!
I didn't find out about this until a month ago meanwhile I was paying a $15 copay every time I went to the dr. I spoke to my insurance company (GHI) and they said that I should only pay for the first visit and if I have a sono. I spoke to the office manager and she gave me a refund of the copays that I had already paid. I would have thought that the receptionists should have known this but they didn't.

Re: Doctor payment question!
Yep, only a co-pay for my first visit, nothing after. Until my $500 copay for the hospital birth!

Me too! I only paid the first time and I haven't since for any visit. Nothing for the sonos or blood tests either.

Re: Doctor payment question!
i'm so nervous, i haven't gotten a bill for anything yet. As soon as i got pregnant i checked DH's insurance and it turns out 3 years ago he picked the cheap insurance since he was single and never updated it i'm just waiting for a $1,000,000,000 bill
