Mumps Question...Called the doctor...
My MIL found out on Tuesday that she has the mumps. We just saw her last Friday....she was all over Jared, hugging and kissing him. Should I be worried?
I think I'm calling the pediatrician tomorrow....
***Updated***
I called the doctor and told him the situation and he was surprised that my MIL had the mumps. He said there's nothing I can do but keep a close watch over Jared to see if he has a fever, loss of appetite, swollen neck and/or testicles. I won't see any of this for the next two weeks though.
GREAT!!!

Re: Mumps Question
Hopefully he is fine! Since he has had some of the MMR by now.It takes about 3 weeks to appear but I know the person is infectious for about 4 days prior to symptoms and 4 days during so hopefully friday was far enough away... Call your doctor first thing tomorrow just to be safe
I'm sorry Stefanie

Re: Mumps Question
I would def call the Dr since babies do not get their MMR untill they are either 12 or 16 months...and ometime babies carry enough antibodies from the mother to stop outbreaks.. Good luck
