I went to the Holocaust museum in Washington DC. They had a lot of books there. Maybe you could check their website for ideas?

Re: does any read holocaust books?
I read I Am Rosemarie when I was a teen and Sarah's key recently. My grandparents were survivors so tough to take. Not sure i'll read more.
My mother read Treblinka.

You absolutely have to read "Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account" by Miklos Nyiszli
I read it a few years ago and recently stumbled across it on the B&N website and purchased it for my Nook. I've been into a more trashy romance novel mood lately, but when I am ready for a more serious read, I will pick this one up again.

i read that one a few years ago and nothing comes close imo for factual details and the horror yet at the same time...being able to almost feel how this man had to detach emotionally to stay alive. very gripping

Re: does any read holocaust books?
I just read Those Who Save Us and it is actually about a german woman who survives during the war by becoming a mistress to an SS officer.
It is really riveting - I can't get it out of my head and just such an interesting perspective. It really makes you question if this woman is a victim or partly responsible?
I'm not sure if you would be interested in this angle on the topic but I thought it was a great read.

No, not true - historical fiction. But it's very believable and I like the way it was written. Sort of like Sarah's Key in that it weaves a modern story (of her daughter, now in the US) and the mother's story during the war.

Reading this right now. I looked for it after seeing your recommendation. Just finished The Book Thief and went right into this. Excellent books but both very difficult to take, obviously. I think I'm going to need some light reading after I finish this.
