I don't but 4 friends do - it's very hard to get into (gruelling interview), pay is mediocre for I banks, but they love it, love the work, the people they work with, etc.
ETA: It is thought to be a very prestigious place to work, you can go almost anywhere after being there.

Re: does any1 work for goldman sachs?
I worked at Morgan Stanley and had friends who worked at Goldman--people went between the two, along with a few other firms. Hours are long, and depending on the position you may get treated like cr@p. In general I feel like women on Wall Street are not treated well since it is a male-dominated world. I was working over 12 hours a day as a trader. Women in the support/administrative assistant positions were not treated well.

I left there about a year ago. It was the most miserable two years of my life. If you want more specifics, feel free to FM me.

Are they men? I feel like most of the Wall Street places are so incredibly sexist and just rude to women. I was asked to be a part of a discrimination suit against Morgan Stanley, but I declined, but the women did win the suit.

Re: does any1 work for goldman sachs?
I went on 6 interviews for job there a few years ago. Each interview was hours long...I finally did get the job but in the end decided to go with a less corporate type company. It's a very concervative company with very high expectations of their staff and very long hours.

I used to audit them, I worked on-site for 18 months.
I worked with most of the finance. back office people, but I always thought that it was very conservative, definitely not a "fun" environment.
I think it depends on what area you want to be working in.
However, it's a great company and I'm sure it opens you up to amazing opportunities.

Re: does any1 work for goldman sachs?
I think the opportunities depend on the area, and the tests you take and pass. As a trader I had to pass the series 7 exam, and a couple other major exams to be licensed. Morgan Stanley paid to sponsor me for my license. Once I got the license, I was much more marketable (but chose to leave Wall Street anyway). Those that couldn't pass the tests (and there were many), weren't given any opportunities for growth. And the admin. assistants seemed to stagnate in their positions.
It really depends on the position you are offered. It didn't sound like you have any financial background, so if it is an exec. assistant position or something, I don't know that there would be ample room for growth.
