Re: Does anyone actually sort laundry?
I don't see a difference in every day stuff but I do sort...sorta
I only wash sheets alone or with pillowcases
Comforter alone
Rugs alone
Blankets alone
All other stuff is fair game and goes in 1 load and is hung to dry in the warmer weather....by warmer I mean no frost

Re: Does anyone actually sort laundry?
i do lights/darks. we dont have enough clothes between just the two of us to need a "white" load, so i just throw it in with other light things.
depending on how much laundry to do i might throw towels in, but they take up a lot of space so sometimes i do them separately. DH washes his jeans separately ...
so i guess we do lights, darks, jeans

Re: Does anyone actually sort laundry?
I do a load of at home color clothes - like PJs, underwear, t shirts etc, then I do a load of color work type clothes (khakis, dress clothes) then I do a load of whites and then I do towels and sheets (separately)

So I guess most of you guys don't bleach your whites? DH wears at least two white T shirts under his work shirts every day plus I wear white camis under my button down shirts and I wear wife beaters to bed a lot. If I skip ONE week of bleaching I feel like they get so dingy? I soak them in bleach every time I wash them for at least an hour and they come out great!
I've never bleached our whites but I might want to try it this week since DH's undershirts look dingy even though they are clean.
What do I do? Just soak them in the sink with Clorox Bleach.. rinse.. then add it to the washer? TY

You can do that, that is what my sister does. BUT what my mother taught me is this:
Fill up the washer with HOT water, add three capfuls of Clorox ( I use the cap from the detergent, make sure you rinse it well after ) put the clothes in and then let the machine run for a few minutes. When it is all mixed well I pause the machine and let them soak for one to two hours before finishing the cycle
You can then move them to the dryer BUT what I do is let hte machine run again with detergent so they dont smell like bleach.
I know it is bad, but my mom actually washed them THREE times, detergent - bleach - detergent LOL

I definitely separate. I use different soap for different colors, diffrent temperatures, etc. I do so many differnt loads. Reguarl darks, dark delicates, regular lights, light delicates, sheets, towels, jeans, etc.
exactly! I use warm water for lights, cold water for darks. I also hand wash and air dry many clothes too.
I honestly don't have a TON of clothes so I like to keep all of my clothes looking great for as many seasons as possible. I have clothes that are over ten years old ( classic pieces ) that still look brand new without being faded or fuzzy!
I literally could have written the above. This is me to a "T"

I do. I'm actually really anal about it.
Sheets / towels Knits / Delicates colors whites horseback riding clothes and workout clothes (that don't go in the dryer)
If I don't have enough for a full load, though, I'll either way or combine somehow... Laundry in my house is neverending, though, so I don't generally have that problem -- even with just two people!
This is what i do lthough I don't have horseback riding clothes. I don't understand how people can mix-don't your clothes get all linty?
