does anyone else have a love/hate relationship with their own mothers
I swear, I get along better with my MIL than my own mother...I can't take her ever since DD was born..everything is you should be doing this, or that...today I told my grandmother that DD had pizza for lunch and I just got a phone call from my mom saying I shouldn't give DD pizza for lunch..UMMMMM we were at the boardwalk and I'm not going to pack her something that's going to get gross..she's 16 mos she can eat basically EVERYTHING...I can't take her..she's always been the type of person that can dish out criticism but never be able to take it..my relationship with her is very very close, but at the same time we fight like crazed lunatics I'm an only child so I have no siblings to even deflect her onto them...
UGH sorry I just needed to vent...she just annoys me sooooo much sometimes...I really hope I don't become that way with DD....my personality is totally my Dad's so I hope I'll learn from my arguments with my own mom to not do that to DD when she's older

I'm pretty sure we have the same mom
My mom is always around, we talk a million times a day and she helps out a ton with DD. However, she judges everything I do. I'm not feeding her enough, I shouldn't dress her the way I do etc. Instead of telling me I'm doing a great job as a mom, I get scolded.
I always tell her "at least you're teaching me how NOT to be with my own daughter. Thank you"
as you can imagine that goes over VERY well

I've said that to her millions of times...and it's all out war when I say that
The dressing her thing is huuuuge..today at almost 90 degrees she tells me to bring a hat to the boardwalk bc the boardwalk gets cold..not like a summer hat, like a light knitted hat...I swear, I think she thinks she never left eastern europe and that it's constantly winter... She always tells me I did this and did that..ummmm yes 30 years ago when you were 20 yrs old and had NOOO clue what you were doing in the first place!~!!

I had to call my mom from work to remind her that DD did NOT need to be wearing a sweatshirt in the 80 degree weather!!

I haven't been to my mom's house in literally three yrs.... .....we see her on holidays but I find myself stressing the day be4, the day of and the whole time she is around, its horrible.....

Ooooo yes!!! I too have a better relationship with my MIL then my own Mother... Since my DS has been born, MIL has been SUCH A HUGE help...My mom on the other hand, only comes over to say hi like once a month for an hour or so... It's like when DS gets older he'll know my MIL real well, and my Mom not so much... It makes me sad, but what can I say..? She's already got 8 grandchildren, yet my MIL only has 3... maybe that has something to do with it/???? Sometimes I miss the way it was when I still lived home...

Oh g-d I say this to her all the time, and her answer is noooo I know...My mom has been through a lot in her life so she's in the "all about me phase" Don't get me wrong she ADORES DD and will do anything for her, I just can't deal with her unsolicited advice ALLLLLL the time, everything I do is wrong, I need to be teaching her to eat off a plate and not do this..so I tell her to come over and teach her and then deal with vacuming the entire plate of food off the floor and dealing with a screaming child bc she hates the vacum and making her another dinner that doesn't end up on the floor...

Oh god same here! She was here watching DD this morning and I was looking for an outfit to put on her (I wanted a cute little dress or short sleeve onesie and shorts or something) and all i heard was "Dana, it's not really as hot out as you think" Dana, she needs a hat" Thennnn I got "I think she's still hungry" " Why don't you give her more in her bottle, she might be fussing cause she's still hungry"
ugh I can go on and on and on...
