Does anyone else here use the Target brand formula?
If so..which would be similar to Enfamil Gentlease?
I ask because I don't have time to go to Target, DH went..but I figured who better to ask than the girls here.
TIA!

They never have it at the Medford Target, SO annoying!
I used generic Target powder at first with DS, then the ped switched us to Gentlease and asked me to not use the generic, so it is regular priced for us

Yes, we switched over when I stopped pumping.
Thank God they make it in generic now as we go through a full can every two days

I just picked up a can of this for DD that is coming next week. It is the EXACT same thing as the name brand if you compare the ingredients and vitamins. Its also half the price.

I just picked one up yesterday too. I am going to start to use it before my name brand one runs out just in case DS doesnt take to it for some reason. Its so much cheaper, I hope it is the same. The list of ingred. reads the exact same so I have my fingers crossed...

Re: Does anyone else here use the Target brand formula?
DH actually picked it up and it does have the same exact thing as Enfamil Gentlease, so I can't see why any doctor would say to use the regular kind when it has the same exact thing. I don't feel bad having purchased it either because it's just like when you get a prescription they ask if you want the regular or generic. Generic is always cheaper and does the SAME thing.
I believe these companies try to make you feel like you HAVE to get the name brand stuff so they can make more money.
Target it is for us!!

Well, in our case, I will listen to my ped. I am sure it is the same, but I am sure he told me that for a reason.
Like I said, before we were switched to Gentlease, we used Target and Wal Mart generic.

Nothing wrong with that. I was just making a general comment, I didn't mean to direct it at you.

Keep in mind formula is put out by the big pharmaceutical companies. The companies court doctors to prescribe one medication over another so why would formula be any different? Similac and Enfamil are very similar yet each doctor has their preferences, I think it has more to do with the marketing of the pharmaceutical industry to get them to endorse one over another.
Target generic is exactly the same as the Enfamil.
We go through a can of formula every two days...
15 cans a month...
Gentlease- $419.85 Generic- $224.85
Using the generic is saving us $195. a month.
We only started when they were 4 months old. If used for 8 more months...
Cost for the year based on 150 cans...
Gentlease- 150 cans... $4198.50 Generic- 150 cans... $2248.50
Approximate savings for the year using generic... $1950. I'd rather have it in the college fund than in the pharmaceutical company's coifers

Re: Does anyone else here use the Target brand formula?
I've used the WalMart one and now I just got the Target one. It is the SAME EXACT THING!!!!!! I don't understand why a pediatrition would say not to use it. Probably because tey have deals with the formula companies, who knows.
I used to be leary, but now I see the savings. It really is a lot. Over $50 a month!
For my next child, I will be using generic from the very beginning!
ETS: Sorry, I never answered your question. It is the DARK purple one. There are two different color purples. It is right next to the Gentlease.

Honestly? Since it was me who said that it was my ped who said to stick with Gentlease and not go generic I find this a little bit offensive. My ped is MORE than generous with samples, and in fact, gave me samples so I wouldn't have to buy it when he first switched DS.
I have literally been seeing my ped for 26 years, he was my ped growing up and is not the type of doctor who would "have a deal with a formula company" he just knows that my son responds well to Gentlease and asked me not to switch. I know it is probably the same, but I like to heed his advice.
My son runs a fine line between Gentlease and Nutramigen, so I think that could be why he says stick with the name brand.
I am glad that the generic works well for other babies and maybe when DS gets a little older I will try it, but righ tnow I am heeding my dr's advice.

Re: Does anyone else here use the Target brand formula?
I use the Target brand and love the savings!! I have found she is gassier and spits up a ton on the Walmart brand for some reason which is so weird since it's the exact same thing!
