Does anyone else not have disability insurance?

I recently found out that I don't have any disability insurance. I work in a NJ school district and apparently if you work for the public schools you are not eligible for disability insurance through the state of NJ. They assume you will use your banked sick days, which for me is not many since this is only my 2nd year in my district. In NY I was always covered so I just assumed I would be here too. Stupid, I know. I could have taken out private disability insurance, but I didn't know about this until it was too late. I know it's not much $ anyway, but anything is better than nothing.

We have NOTHING in my school. We don't ahve disability, we don't have sick days, we don't have personal days. This is why I am THANKING GOD that I am due a week after school is over. Apparently, I am the second teacher to be pregnant in the school in 30+ years It's a private school with mainly an older faculty. Guess they need to develop some sort of policy, now don't they?

taking out disability insurance is not expensive its good to have. look at my situation they laid me off from my job at 6 1/2 months pregnant.
