Does anyone elses doctors wait until the last minute to do internals??
I'm not complaining. But I don't get an internal until 39 weeks.
I'm guessing they do this so as not to give false hope of labor and what not. But sometimes I wanna know if something is happening.

Re: Does anyone elses doctors wait until the last minute to do internals??
I haven't asked my midwife yet if they even do them but if they do I'm going to request that I don't get one until I'm in labor.
I bled and cramped after internals with my DD and it drove me crazy thinking I'd go into labor any minute. For the last three weeks! My OB also stripped membranes and this time I'm all about letting things ripen and happen naturally.

Re: Does anyone elses doctors wait until the last minute to do internals??
Yes! I am 38 weeks and haven't had one. But I'm not complaining! However I THINK I'll be having one at tomorrow's appt- they didn't mention it to me, but I heard from others who use my practice that they wait until 38 weeks. Unless you are having contractions or something I just think they feel it's not necessary.
Like I said- I really don't mind. I'm not looking to stir things up or have her come early!

Re: Does anyone elses doctors wait until the last minute to do internals??
My office usually doesn't do them till atleast 39 weeks. I will be getting one at 38 weeks since i will be getting induced at 39 weeks due to my GD and large baby. And the only reason why I will be getting one at 38 weeks is to see how far i am progressing(if at all) and if they need to do the cervadil and pitocin or just the pitocin.

I'm having my first one today at 38w. Hoping that they can give me a progress report! I need to know if I can stop working ahead of my due date or not.

I delivered DS on the day of my 37th week appt and hadn't had an internal as of that time, I am guessing I would have had one that night?????????

My first internal was at 38 weeks. My Dr. says he doesn't see the point of doing them earlier.

i just had my 36 week appt and my doctor said she wont do an internal until 39 weeks. So your doctor isnt the only one who waits!

Re: Does anyone elses doctors wait until the last minute to do internals??
Yes mine does, no point in doing them earlier, and its no preface to when you will go into labor. Also no point in getting any bacteria introduced for no reason. Its totally normal.
