When people offer to watch Gillian I say "No, thats okay". and I really mean it. Its bad enough getting through work but I dont feel right leaving Gillian on the weekend to go to the movies or shopping etc... I want her with me. Does that get better within time?

Re: does anyone feel like they have the seperation anxiety from their child
I have horrible separation anxiety when it comes to my child. Getting through the work week takes so much energy from me. I hate leaving him, it causes me so much anxiety. So when the weekend comes, everything I do, Michael is with me. Of course there is the occassion where I have an adult only party or DH and I decide to grab a quick bite to eat. On those weekends, I usually take a Monday off to make up for the day/night I missed (see told you it was horrible for me, lol)... But for the most part Michael is with me ALL DAY LONG when I'm home. I take him everywhere. The only ME time I have is the 1 hour break I get at work which I hardly take...
You're not alone, I know how hard it is! I actually said to myself that this year (my 30th year, a year for changes) is the year I will TRY to focus on ME, a little. I need a Saturday morning to run to the store by myself... one day...

I feel the same way! I really don't have anyone to watch him on the weekends but I want to spend all my time with him since I work all week!

Re: does anyone feel like they have the seperation anxiety from their child
I guess because I only work part-time I don't mind leaving DS as much because it's always no more than a couple of hours at a time. DH and I haven't been out to dinner in months, I would LOVE for someone to take him for the night so we can have some alone time. But we've had so many parties that we need sitters for that I don't want to leave him more than once a week at most.

Re: does anyone feel like they have the seperation anxiety from their child
I had it when DS was around 3-4 months. It was the same time that I moved him to his own room. I was always so paranoid that someone was going to take him from me. I would flinch when walking in the supermarket or in the mall if I felt they were to close to me. At night I would stare at the monitor to make sure he was their (I thought someone would come in to the window and take him). I was always scared in the parking lot that someone would jump into the car. Then one day I just stopped thinking about it and have been fine ever since.
